@Gabriele_Corno This is obviously AI. The owls are two different species, and would never mate. There are other biological impossibilities, and the whole behaviour is absurdly anthropomorphic. Owls just don't think like human beings.

@latestinspace To me the real issue is the probability of a technological civilization arising (a combination of f sub i and f sub c). We have absolutely no idea of this number. If it is less than about 10*-24 then we are probably alone in the observable universe. (There are about 10*22 stars).
