One thing that I have realized through all that we have experienced is that nearly every time I feel like someone is finally speaking up for “us”, they almost always end up disappointing me. And why, exactly, are we so hungry to feel heard and genuinely represented? For me it’s because I thought I was doing the right thing my whole life, studying, working, paying taxes, being a good citizen, etc. while believing I was actually ELECTING people that share my values. While I was on the treadmill that was created for me, I was hoodwinked. Has anyone ever had my interest in mind? We have blindly trusted the system for too long, and we are now experiencing the pain and joy of seeing it exposed. I do not know how this ends, but I’m glad to know what I now know.
