My first memory of Joe Brennan was at the age of 8 , 1973, when I was with my brother John when he met with Brennan at his law office in Portland to explain to him that he couldn't stay working on Brennan's 1974 campaign for Governor.
The reason being that our cousin George Mitchell was also going to run for Governor. (My grandmother was adamant that blood was thicker than water ).
Fortunately the future provided that those two would become close personal friends.
Brennan was kind and understanding. In the 50 years since I never saw him angry. Concerned, determined, hard driving but never angry or mean spirited. What drove him was his passion for public service to be a truly noble profession.
And I saw him many times in the years that followed from the 70s up through the 2000s.
He had been inspired by JFK and RFK as millions of Americans were.
His parents were from County Galway and he was very much Munjoy Hill in Portland.
His constituency was all across Maine because he never forgot or strayed from his hard working roots.
But even through his rise in politics he held onto that idealism, the belief in a government that could work honestly for people and make lives better for the vast majority of people and not just a favored few.
His campaign slogan in 1982 was
" Your Vote Worked". I've always remembered that because it was telling you that you can proud of your vote and here is what we have accomplished because of your support.
Like Joe that slogan was the positive message that exemplified the decent, earnest, compassionate and hard working public servant that he always was.
And hopefully that model of commitment and integrity can be a model for all of us.
Thank you Joe.
When you wear your high school sweatshirt to a Mariners-Astros game, a certain World Series MVP (who went to same school) wants to take a picture with you! It was an honor to meet him! #JeremyPena#ClassicalHighSchool#RhodeIsland@Jpena221
The Wave -
After reviewing my images, I determined that I captured the wave that took out the door and window at Portland Head Lighthouse. I'm not happy about it, but I am in awe of the power of nature. I believe this is a historic capture.

Step up into your high-self: make great things happen and accomplish the ambitious goals set. Step down into your low-self: create drama and feed your ego. Which one are you going to choose?
In Maine, we have no voter ID laws, we have same day registration, we have no-excuse absentee voting, we have mail-in voting, we have early voting, we have 24/7 drop boxes.
And we have virtually no fraud.
Expanding ballot access doesn't encourage fraud; it encourages VOTING.
Watch as he responds to someone who is supposedly a "magician" (but is clearly an evil sorcerer)- then tells him exactly where to go. 😂

Today 44BC Julius Caesar is stabbed to death by Brutus, Cassius and several other Roman senators on the Ides of March in Rome.
Appointed Dictator of Rome in 48BC he defeated his opponents before instigating a series of reforms, including the Roman calendar.

32 years ago today, Larry Bird walked into the All-Star locker room & told the 3PT Shootout contestants "Who's coming in second?"
He backed up his trash-talking by winning his 3rd consecutive championship & putting his hand up before the last shot went in
