Founder of @brixwork and @hovrmarketing. opinionated based on strong evidence and analysis. ignorant about everything else. meritocracy and elite output 💪🤟
When your gf is a veterinarian:
Gf: My arms were soooo tired after the gym!
Me: Oh yeah? How bad?
Gf: Have you ever held up your arm inside a cow for a long time to inseminate it?
Me: …. No, can’t say I have. 🤣
I can’t control:
Recession, slow market, wars and oil prices.
I can control:
- Business direction; adopt new technology, who I work with
- Work ethics; disciplined focus, extra grind, austerity.
- Attitude; Grateful for being in a safe and easy place to live in.
@dockevinmcleod These are extreme shifts… that being said, a healthy economy is one where people covet and value jobs, and work hard to keep it. The entitlement bred during the temporary COVID money injection and the ensuing laziness created a false sense of prosperity which was bound to end.
@BuldakChaIIenge “Call me a communist but..” is your own hint - letting government control private assets to that degree is inherently evil and dangerous, completely crosses over boundaries of tax rates etc.
In fact, rent control as a whole backfires often - look at the case of NYC.
#murph weekend at @CrossFitBC
This is an encouraging squad that motivates me and holds me accountable to my values.
Finally hit sub-40 min (with vest, partitioned).
We need to bring back intellectual elitism.
We need to bring back intellectual elitism.A virologist with 20+ years of research will ALWAYS know more about vaccines than a yoga mommy blogger with a ChatGPT subscription and a following.
Competence isn’t oppression. Expertise isn’t “gatekeeping.” It’s the firewall between evidence and ego-driven nonsense.
Your plumber doesn’t take Twitter advice on pipes. Why let unqualified voices dictate public health, economics, or science?
Bring back respecting those who actually know what they’re talking about.
@omgsidewalks They’re not hoarding it. Their net worth is estimated based on the last sale price of the corp shares, often by retail investors (average people). Sure we have inequality issues, but to think that releasing their “net worth” is going to solve poverty is simply false. #economics
Consumer goods are far cheaper than they would be if they’re made locally with enviro regulations - the mega firms enable cheap manufacturing overseas, shipped here via big oil. Conglomerates by billionaires is the main reason an average Canadian can eat out/take vacations.
It’s always strange to me that the same people who complain about the wealth of billionaires, are the same ones that subscribe or use their services or buy their products. If you don’t like their wealth, don’t use their products or services 🤷♂️
It’s like they are deranged.

3 things that hurt the middle class Canadian far more than billionaires:
1. poor impulse control = bad financial habits
2. underworking, overpaid public sector = high tax burden, purchasing power competition
3. Low financial illiteracy = fall for hypes, make poor investments
@rsgnl I just drop a quarter or two for those kind of things. If there selling 20 coffees an hour, no way they deserve $20-40/hr on top of their base pay.. those are entry level jobs.
@jesse_kleine Haha. Yeah all that AI generated slop and breakthroughs - I expected the flood of garbage to have this type of impact. They contradict themselves, spew wrong info. I even saw a realtor’s blog post with xxx-xxxx as their “call now” number… just copy-pasted from ChatGPT 🤣🤣
@billybinion Haha. Any defensive reaction to justify existing comforts and terrible habits..
I’ve had nothing but better mental and physical health as well as improved finances since I dramatically reduced alcohol. We all own our results. His sharing of his own experience is fantastic.
@BasedTJMiller@nayibbukele Developing world is catching up to developed world indeed… Personally I found it so easy to compete against lazy entitled 1st world kids, spoiled beyond belief so I like it here as a competitive merit-based business owner. But I don’t see myself retiring here either.
@BasedTJMiller@nayibbukele We’ve had issues with them around our office so many times in Gastown, harassment break-in vandalism... If we weren’t so established in the lower mainland we’d leave, but holding down the fort for now. Huge tax waste across the SROs without a proper treatment plan either. 😡
