Mike Commodore on @JasonGregor's show:
“Mike Babcock’s not an idiot. Connor and Leon are going to get treated like gold. It’s the 3rd and 4th liners, the 5-7 defensemen, the rookies, the arena staff, it’s people like that who are going to be abused.”
Danielle Smith calling the court decision undemocratic when she used the notwithstanding clause to quash Albertans' rights is pretty rich, but totally on par with her arrogant, self-righteous attitude.
When Government Protects Itself First
Last week, Elections Alberta confirmed something deeply disturbing.
The provincial list of electors — personal information tied to nearly 3 million Albertans — was exploited without authorization.
Now the RCMP are involved with yet another tie to this government.
This is not just a breach of privacy — it’s a dereliction of duty.
Government dismissed the warnings, changed the law and UCP staff participated in the disclosure.
When a government works this hard to keep information hidden — it’s not transparency they’re protecting — it’s themselves.
Control without accountability.
Power without consequence.
This is NOT a conservative government. Conservatives believe in stewardship and accountability – protecting the public.
This is a government that protects itself first…
refuses to investigate suspect dealings…
won’t even listen to its own institutions.
This is much bigger than one breach — it’s about trust in our democracy.
And there must be consequences.

Powerful words from PM Carney: Those whose politics is to destroy, demolish, dismantle, they're not going to change their instincts.. We can't match them by being timid imitations. We can't answer them by pining for an old order that's not going to return
I’m no Theodor Geisel but in 2014 gas prices were ~25% higher in Canada than in U.S. (when you were last in office, Pierre).
Today they’re ~10% higher - historically low spread. Lots of market dynamics at play but difference largely market size now that we paused the excise tax.
Watching Carney and Poilievre go at it in Parliament is starting to feel uncomfortable. Not in a dramatic way, just in the way it feels when someone is clearly out of their depth and keeps pressing anyway.
Carney knows the file. When he answers, he answers the actual question. He doesn’t need to perform outrage or repeat a catchphrase three times and call it a rebuttal. He just explains things, clearly, because he understands them.
Poilievre comes in loud and confident, same as always, and that works great on a campaign trail or a Facebook video. But in a room where the other guy actually knows what he’s talking about? The gap shows. Every time.
The frustrating part isn’t even the politics. It’s watching someone confuse intensity for competence and expect nobody to notice the difference. People notice.
This stopped being a left vs right thing a while ago. Now it just looks like one guy who did the reading and one guy who thinks he doesn’t have to.
He did it politely and diplomatically but King Charles just reminded Congress:
• NATO was there for USA after 9/11
• British Troops did fight in Afghanistan
• Ukraine needs our help now
• executive power must be subject to checks & balances
• ice-caps are melting
• America’s natural wonders need protecting
There is a lesson to be learned here, Alberta.
Unaware British voters bought into a massive disinformation campaign. Pro-Brexit propaganda was also inflicted on UK through foreign interference, including some high profile Canadian politicians.
Now UK regrets.

Imagine calling Renee Good and Alex Pretti “domestic terrorists” and calling immigrants “animals” then turning around and telling people they need to “tone down their rhetoric.”
.@SarahAMatthews1 on Donald and Melania Trump demanding Jimmy Kimmel be fired over a joke: "Forgive me if I roll my eyes, because you don't get to spend years cheering on violent, hateful rhetoric and then demand censorship when there's a joke you don't like."
MAGA authoritarianism is pretending the president is “joking” when he makes death threats, but comedians are somehow “shaping public policy” when they make jokes.
Holy shit, this is BRILLIANT: This dude breaks down why everyone thinks the whole WHCD event was fake... everything about trump is FAKE.
Best video you'll see today.
The Onion has successfully acquired Alex Jones’ ‘Infowars’ after 17 months of legal battles and has debuted its new logo.
It will be turned into a parody of itself, with the support of the Sandy Hook families.

On a per-person basis, Canada is attracting more foreign investment than any other G7 country - roughly double the next closest and our highest level in 18 years.
More investment means more jobs, more growth, and more opportunity.
