We can now confirm that the substance found in Lorenzo Salgado’s van was not a narcotic or any other illicit substance. As his family has said all along, this was an electrolyte powder to stay hydrated working outside in the hot Texas summer.
The attempt to cast a shadow over Lorenzo Salgado’s name has failed.
Today, McConnell’s staff told press that he continues to “work” while in hospital, saying:
“The Senator continues to meet with staff regarding Senate and Kentucky business, including discussions on defense appropriations, foreign policy, the farm bill, constituent services and constituent federal...”
-No new photo or videos.
-No phone call, video or meetings with @AndyBeshearKY
-No contact with Senate Dems
-And @Cheering4Change who has constantly been covering the hospital hasn’t seen any other members of Congress visit
-His doctors won’t let him leave 5 weeks after a “minor fall with no complications”
But they expect us to believe he is working on Senate policy…?
He can manage in-depth work on appropriations but not basic updates to his constituents, his governor, or his colleagues?
It’s getting pretty clear we’re in elder abuse territory, where they are making statements on behalf of a man who is no longer capable, so they can cash Congressional staff checks.
NEWS: Trump's WHCD joke directed at Nicki Minaj is a near-identical ripoff of an old racist Vietnam-era "joke" that's about Black Americans getting killed during the war. We traced its origins. https://t.co/gds9ihmtoW
Barron's an adult now. It's time for the media to start asking him questions. Start with his relationship with the Tates and the nature of his investments.
It’s a stolen classic racist shock-humor riddle joke… the original was “ why did more Black soldiers die during the Vietnam war? Because when they said get down they started dancing….
I watched Trump’s speech at the Correspondents’ Dinner last night.
It’s hard to articulate how sad it made me.
Sad and embarrassed and exhausted.
Here is the thing about a man who is a joke. He can’t tell one.
People think humor is a talent. It isn’t. It’s a capacity. To make someone laugh you have to be able to laugh at yourself, and to laugh at yourself you have to step outside of yourself and see what everyone else sees. For one second you have to be just another person in the room.
Most people can do this by the time they are nine years old.
He has never once managed it. Not in fifty years of cameras. Not for a second.
That is not a quirk. It is a symptom. The muscle that lets you tell a joke is the same one that lets you feel what another person feels. A man who cannot survive being laughed at cannot imagine being anyone but himself. He will only ever be generous when it is photographed. He will only ever be kind when it is filmed.
There is a name for it.
So he stood up there and did what he always does. He hit down. He made jokes about people’s weight. He made jokes about their intelligence. He made jokes about how women look. He read out the names of people he doesn’t like, and mocked them. Always mocking. And when no one laughed he blamed his speech writers.
The cruelty dressed as humor has worn so thin.
And for the 30% of you still in the cult who will inevitably call me a crackhead and blame it all on my Dad, all I can say is please, for the love of God, open your eyes. Wake the fuck up. Have some dignity. Have some pride.
Joe Biden wasn’t standing at that podium last night. Donald Trump was.
And at the end of it he put on a red hat that said Trump 2028 and told the room he was running again. No one laughed because everyone knows he has no intention of leaving.
Just another joke at our expense.
A room full of journalists. A president at the microphone. And somehow the biggest story is a man in his 80s throwing playground insults because comedians and senators hurt his feelings.
This wasn't a speech. It was a national tantrum.
A jury convicted him of fraud. A judge ordered him to pay $676 million back to the people he defrauded. He gave $1.8 million to a Trump fundraising committee instead, and walked away from both.
Meet Trevor Milton.
In 2014 he founded Nikola, an electric and hydrogen truck company. At its peak it was worth more than Ford. Milton was a billionaire on paper.
One problem. The trucks didn’t work.
You’ve probably seen the promo video: the Nikola One semi gliding down a road, silent and futuristic. It wasn’t driving. It had been towed to the top of a hill and rolled down. That was the technology.
Federal prosecutors said Milton lied about “nearly all aspects of the business.” That Nikola built a pickup from the ground up (it didn’t). That it developed its own batteries (it was buying them). That the Nikola One worked (he knew it didn’t).
October 2022: a jury convicts him. One count securities fraud, two counts wire fraud.
December 2023: a judge sentences him to four years, fines him $1 million, and orders him to pay more than $690 million in restitution to the retail investors who got wiped out.
Now the timeline that matters.
October 2024: Milton and his wife donate more than $1.8 million to a Trump fundraising committee.
March 2025: prosecutors ask the court to order him to pay $676 million in restitution.
Two weeks later: Trump pardons him. Full and unconditional.
The prison time, gone. The money owed to defrauded shareholders, gone.
Trump’s explanation was that Milton had been persecuted for supporting his political ambitions. He told reporters, “I think he was exonerated.”
He wasn’t exonerated. A jury convicted him.
One more detail. Milton’s defense attorney at trial was Brad Bondi, brother of Pam Bondi, now Attorney General of the United States.
Milton called it a “sacred pardon of innocence.”
The people who lost their savings on a truck that rolled downhill got nothing.
Remember how Republicans went totally batshit when Lloyd Austin took three days to notify the White House about his emergency hospitalization - but when it’s been 41 days & we’re still not sure if Mitch McConnell is alive - the silence is deafening.
CNN's Jake Tapper was a deranged bloodhound following the trail of Joe Biden experiencing *normal aging processes* in office but can't turn his Sherlockian skills to the comparatively simple question of whether Mitch McConnell is *still on Earth*. Is there no money in the latter?
🚨CAUGHT ON TAPE! A video is going viral showing Republican Zach Nunn physically striking a reporter for simply asking a question.
Nunn claimed he was speaking to a “constituent.” The man was a reporter. This is criminal assault. Authorities should investigate and ARREST him.
