Interesting chart showing rising income inequality compared to worker productivity since 1979. How different would our lives be if pay had stayed on track with productivity?
Productivity and pay once climbed together. But since 1979, productivity and pay have diverged—and it is no accident. It is the result of intentional policy choices designed to suppress wage growth and transfer income into the pockets of those at the top. https://t.co/8L3KBJbdX7

Crosscut Union is keeping our readers informed about how bargaining our first contract is going with @CascadePubMedia .. what @Crosscut_Union is asking for is simple: we want to do our jobs, live in the city we cover, and be able to take care of ourselves and our families.
I don't think we're allowed to use our all-staff listserv, so just want to say to any other CPM employees on here: Come talk to us! We're alright! And not twitter criminals!
@mattmillsphoto Haha. Kids love picking their own food! You can also apparently make dandelion tea with the flowers, though I've never tried it. The whole plant is edible. Sad we just see it as a weed here!
🎧 On this episode of the Crosscut Talks podcast, @EdwinLindo and @jen_dev discuss the racism and inequities in our health care industry, and how to find solutions to a systemic problem. https://t.co/YWkG0RnOXR
I can't tell you how heartbreaking it is to go out and film during a pandemic, work long hours and weekends, only to be told by management that we're not even worth a 1% raise.
For the last year we've been working hard to create quality journalism and video content at @Crosscut during a pandemic. As a result, @CascadePubMedia and @KCTS9 have had success fundraising, yet they are uninterested in investing in their employees. https://t.co/2wgYLXtUjv
It's been a strenuous year for journalists. At @Crosscut we've lost too many talented staff to burnout and other opportunities. Please help us petition @CascadePubMedia for competitive wages and time off so this local journalism is sustainable! https://t.co/Mc2zPKETLw
This year, the cost of my child care up went up $120 a month. Previously, it rose from $2,150 a month when I was pregnant to $2,480 by the time my baby was 3 months old. The latest wage proposal from @CascadePubMedia wouldn't come close to matching these cost increases.
The Women Photograph data team continues to monitor the lead photo byline on the front pages of 8 international newspapers — now for our fifth year. Here's the first quarter of 2021. https://t.co/fSYVR8iBXh
I'm grateful for @Crosscut & @jen_dev for making this important series happen!
Shout out to the work of @decolonizingsci & @HelenChuMD - honored to share space with them in this segment.

So many brave journalists have been going out in the field every day to get the public the information they need during this pandemic. It's important we also have their backs.
Today our board, along with those of @SeattleNABJ@PeriodistasNW@aajaseattle@WNPA1, submitted a letter to Washington state officials, asking them to include frontline journalists in Phase 1B of the state's vaccine schedule.

There are a whole seven people in the newsroom @Crosscut this morning and I haven't felt this happy in a long time. But it's bittersweet, as this lovely lady will be leaving us for new adventures. We'll miss you @AguedaPachecOH!
Over the past year of producing "Hidden Barriers," our latest video series, @jen_dev encountered sobering stories of people struggling to get health care. But she also saw incredible strength and resilience. https://t.co/Dpepgh3aYS
This pandemic has shown the immense pressure on parents and we're asking that @CascadePubMedia protect them from discrimination. Only reason not to has to do with lawyers, which is not a good reason.
