Parental controls are especially necessary in a world of uncensored media. Family engagement tools would be a step in the right direction especially on an app that caused someone's minor son to OD. #csulbsmc https://t.co/BoOEzjwMgM via @techcrunch
@Kmartinez0132 "Social media in general doesn't cause an eating disorder, however it does contribute to it." Recently, I've seen influencers become more transparent with their filtering. I think more influencers should do the same because it is easy to get caught up in the aesthetics.
@CrisSerr3 This new tool is going to be super beneficial for smaller creators to gain that exposure they need. I admire how DM's are going to be filtered out to serious inquiries only which will hinder users from being flooded with spam messages. It sounds like IG is catching up to FB.
@BryJour I love how Boue emphasized how generating user engagement isn't the issue with running a campaign on Instagram, rather it's action. I believe running an affective campaign is creating a community and gathering people to make a change. In her case, a Trail Day worked perfectly.
@kelseystubbs44@verge I was not shocked to read that negative posts tend to receive more engagement. It's interesting that Twitter is considering adding a feature that warns people of their rude content before they post. I don't think it will be successful.
I'm happy this feature is being provided. Although I access to iCloud, my storage is always full and I would hate to lose conversations shared between me and my grandpa. The capabilities puts them up against google drive. #csulbsmc https://t.co/s7IC37lFTz via @techcrunch
@_rebeccageiger It's interesting that snapchat created an AI feature to detect counterfeit prescription pills. This feature should be promoted for future festivals to spread more awareness of the platforms capabilities.
@kelseystubbs44@NewYorker I've heard of this platform from influencers who say they are avid users. I admire the authentication part of it because it makes it difficult for just anyone to hop on this dating site. I believe other dating apps should follow Raya's strict guidelines.
@Chlojo_hogan Removing quantifiable metrics such as likes, won't help solve inevitable issues. There are still ways for kids to compare themselves i.e. followers & comments. Removing metrics would also hurt current and aspiring influencers.
@jackierausa I found it funny that this CGI character added "single" as part of his backstory. Referring back to the article, it is scary how virtual humans have their own social media platforms. Ordinary people confess to personal stories, to "connect" with the character and its scary!!!
@Kmartinez0132 It's difficult to point fingers when users are willingly using social media platforms. In the article it mentioned how one day users find the platform helpful, and the next its problematic. In my experience, if I begin to feel negative, I simply remove myself. Tough topic.
@BryJour @BiIndia It would be a disservice to children if @instagram creates a "instagram for kids." What would this version look like? Kids are smart! I'm positive they'd be able to "jailbreak" the kids version of IG. I would hate to see a young kid become another statistic.
@_rebeccageiger I commend Facebook for utilizing their platform to benefit our environment and its climate changes. It'll be interesting to see how users react/interact with this feature due to inevitable misinformation. I believe their huge platform will help with outreach and awareness.
@kelseystubbs44@TechCrunch There was a quote that stood out to me in this article, "Big Tech has become the new tobacco." It is scary to put it in these words, but social media is addicting! It is upsetting to know the damage social media does especially to the younger demographic.
@juuliaxmorales In my experience, I've used reddit with open awareness from the platform's controversial topics. It's interesting that users are wanting to challenge consensus views. This shouldn't be a go-to for objective information to begin with.
The article mentioned how โusers arenโt really in control.โ This is true and I see how targeting certain demographics helps advance their platform along with others. This is a good yet controversial read. #csulbmsc https://t.co/Md3WFLH2xS
@juuliaxmorales This is a tricky one because, politics contain like 10% facts and 90% opinions. I don't even trust the tech companies to be genuine in their intention. Is it just another business move to cover their platforms?
@kelseystubbs44@MashableNews I remember back in 2016 Instagram got rid of a ridiculous amount of spam profiles. Twitter in this case is NOT getting rid of bots, just identifying the good/bad. I feel like this is a "mickey mouse" job rather than just deleting those profiles. @Twitter
@BryJour @NewYorker I'm sure I wouldn't be the only one to agree that Facebook has gotten far too large to be controlled. I'm interested to see what results from this case because Facebook has been up on the podium countless of times, yet continues on with their success. Facebook=money & money=power
@Kmartinez0132 I personally am not a huge fan of the concept already because Facebook is behind this technology. By wearing this, we are giving them a new form of access to our daily intimate lives....the parts we don't post on social media for some "privacy."
