Friendly reminder that if you want to use your figures again and don't want to hand copyright over to a journal:

1. Share the figure with a CC0 license before you submit, effectively releasing the figure into the public domain.

2. That's it, you can always use the figure now.

In proofs, copy editor wrote, for a ref with 217 authors:

"Don't abbreviate authors with et al.—journal style requires to spell out all names."

And because I'm an adult I did the grownup thing: Spelled out 217 names, & also added a ref to the Higg's Boson paper.
