@DevonTobin01 True, most artists use some sort of auto tune in their music now which can set up false expectations for a live show when an artist performs without it, disappointing audiences. #S22POPMUS
@KimKimgrady2565 I agree, live music can be totally different than studio recordings. Since some artists change their songs to perform them in a unique way how they want, they could either make their audience feel happy or disappointed depending on their expectations. #S22POPMUS
I agree with Wald’s assessment because it’s more common now for people listen to recordings. Technology has changed how people perceive live music because oftentimes artists and their music don’t sound the same as they do live vs. studio recordings because of it #S22POPMUS
@sarahbutler913 Although schlock music is cultural theft I agree that it does still hold value. It represents how covers have always been an important part of music history & how some covers and cover artists gain more popularity than the original artist which diminishes their work #S22POPMUS
@michaeljoc123 Yes, covers are definitely an important part of music and I also think that every artist should be credited for their work especially since some covers gain more popularity than the original songs themselves! #S22POPMUS
Schlock rock should be acknowledged as cultural theft but not be completely dismissed. Although the music was altered to appeal to different audiences it is still an important part of musical history as it definitely influenced other musicians and listeners of the time #S22POPMUS
@DevonTobin01 I agree, his breaking voice added much more meaning and emotion to his lyrics while showing his musical talent, enhancing the song. #S22POPMUS
@JohnWan78001495 I definitely think that Ray Charles use of breaking voice showed his true emotion in certain parts of his song. Since it sounded different compared to other moments it really enhanced his emotion. #S22POPMUS
I think Ray Charles used a breaking voice in I’ve Got a Woman to express his emotion, drawing attention to certain lyrics to listeners. It definitely made his voice stand out to me and allowed his voice to connect with other listeners as well. #S22POPMUS
@svernb I think with the feature of being able to see what your friends are listening to has definitely changed the way I listen to music as well! It’s easy to share and interact by creating playlists together and liking your favourites while discovering new music #S22POPMUS
@brianna92121112 Yes, the personalization of streaming has definitely shown me new music that I probably would never have even listened to without it! I think that that part of streaming has helped people form their identity from music #S22POPMUS
Spotify has changed the way I listen to music. You can find almost any song with a simple search so it’s easy for me to listen to what I like. With streaming I can share music with friends and access new music when I want that I wouldn’t have been able to do before #S22POPMUS
@KathySenior11 I agree! Listeners don't have to enjoy all types of music and they can enjoy it for many different reasons as well whether that be because it's popular and catchy or because they can relate to the lyrics.
I don’t agree that popular music is dumbed-down because although it appeals to large audiences most of the songs do still have significant meanings to the artists and listeners. False needs like current beauty standards have definitely been created by popular music. #S22POPMUS
