@BrittHanlon6#S22POPMUS I agree with you, I love hearing people perform live! The experience and the atmosphere is something you can't get from a recording. I believe songs now are over edited making the artist sound very different in a live setting which may turn people away.
@Kayleigh8894#S22POPMUS I agree that the experience of a live concert would be better then a recording because of the atmosphere. Although I have watched live videos of my favourite artists singing my favourite songs and been sadly disappointed. Auto-tune changes their voice completely.
#S22POPMUS I think Wald's assessment is accurate. Many artists use auto-tune and it makes it sound great on the recording. However fans have been disappointed when they see their favourite artists in concert and they sound completely different. It can be quite disappointing.
@xKobly#S22POPMUS Totally agree. Sometime others input can make a song 10x better. Mistakes may not be seen at first but when reworked by someone else it becomes clear and better for listeners.
@jennap0822#S22POPMUS I agree completely! Some times music can be altered to fit a different audience. Some people may like the original version while it may attract many others with the cover version.
#S22POPMUS I can see why people would see this music as "schlock", because it is reworking other peoples songs. I don't think it should be dismissed though. Artists can rework music to better fit their targeted audience at that time period. If credit is given it should be fine.
@hanlauralex#S22POPMUS I completely agree that his music would not be as relatable if it lacked passion and honest emotion. Without it, listeners would have a harder time finding a connection.
@michaeljoc123#S22POPMUS The roughness of his voice really portrays the intensity behind the emotions in his music. This intensity is what allows listeners to connect with him on a personal level.
#S22POPMUS Ray Charles uses a breaking voice in his songs to express his emotions through his music. Artists all express this in different ways such as tone, through instrumentals, and word choice. Listeners have a greater connection to the artist when emotion is present.
@JK22168#S22POPMUS I also have found that my music taste as greatly expanded since newer technology has become available. I am always finding new genres, songs and artists that I really enjoy. I use to get my music from just the radio but now I can find music much easier.
@jennifer_organ#S22POPMUS I actually love streaming services for this reason! Being able to have songs suggested to me allows me to find new artists and songs with so much ease. So glad that music is at our finger tips at all times, it is apart of my daily routine. Especially when driving.
#S22POPMUS Modern technology has allowed us to access songs with ease. I use Apple Music to stream and download all my songs. There is some social status around different devices for listening to music. Airpods are popular now for music on the go with Bluetooth it is made easy.
@Sydneycpaul#S22POPMUS I do agree with you that a lot of music now has to do with glamourous lifestyles. However, just because I may listen to Cardi B I am not striving to live her life, I usually just listen to her for the upbeat music and feel good vibes that comes from her music.
@svernb#S22POPMUS I completely agree. Sometimes I listen to music just for fun and not to dive into the deeper meanings by the artist. There are other times when I love to read in between the lines of a song and try to process what they were feeling. It really depends on my mood.
I don't think that popular music "dumbs down" culture. People have different interests and enjoy different styles of music. Just because it is made public by mass media, doesn't mean everyone will love that song. People interpret music differently based on connections. #S22POPMUS
