The QueensLink would reuse an abandoned 3.5-mile rail corridor in NYC, no expensive tunneling. At ~$3.5B, it’s one of the cheapest ways to expand the subway. Add upzoning near new stations and you unlock massive transit-oriented development. 160,000 new homes.
Why kill this?
I hate when capitalists are like “but under communism people will have to do jobs they don’t want to do” as if all the people currently working 80 hours a week at three different fast food restaurants are doing it for the love of the game.
I don’t think people understand that global warming doesn’t mean “no cold weather ever.” It means a warming planet destabilizes weather patterns, causing more extreme weather. This has been explained for decades and people still don’t get it.
I don't want self driving cars.
I want boring things like public transit that comes so regularly I don't need to check a schedule. I want bike lanes so accessible it's preferable to Uber. I want a city that's not built around cars-as-default.
