There is no fact more universally understood and more universally ignored than the depravity and wickedness of the human heart. All of our good deeds are as filthy rags and can never earn salvation. Repent of sin and trust in Christ and forgiveness will be yours.
@RevZekveld This is what Peter Hitchens calls, "having your mind furnished with Beauty". He made that statement while defending the memorization of poetry against a group of educators that he described as "spiritual deserts".
@farmingandJesus It is true but it still doesn't get to the heart of the matter. Bitterness, revenge, and jealousy can all come from a person being hurt by another but it is a person's own depravity that leads them to respond in sinful ways instead of Godly ways.
@JonSpeedTheBook What a weird objection to equal protection. The argument is essentially saying that the goal of abolishing abortion is a bad idea because it hasn't happened yet.
@RevZekveld Given the scripture's clear teaching on this it is odd for someone like Partridge to come up with such a hot take on the issue. It tells me that the man's foundational principles are something other than scripture.
@farmingandJesus If the question was"who would you most like to identify with" the answer would be simple. Elijah. In reality I'm probably more like Gehazi or Gideon on a bad day.
@inimitablepgw “She fitted into my biggest arm-chair as if it had been built round her by someone who knew they were wearing arm-chairs tight about the hips that season.”
@PLeithart This is the same root as the word translated as Hebrew. Ivrit. I believe that there is a connection although some people believe it describes one of Abraham's ancestors. It is Abraham's seed that cross (avar) the Red Sea and the Jordan to enter Canaan. What are your thoughts?
