Bitcoin doesn't exist in a vacuum
Spam comes from the fiat economy, not from long-term bitcoin holders
The world economy is $100T and bitcoin is only $1T
The Fed can print bitcoin's entire market cap and barely anyone notices
They can use this to spam bitcoin, buy influence, corrupt processes etc
Bitcoin may be free, but the world is not free while the money printer lives
black pill: bip-110 is a case study for the current state of the world
truth doesn't matter. the mob will attach to low iq influencers and don't care about scientific accuracy.
white pill: bitcoin isn't a democracy. we don't care about how many influencers you get on your side.
the mob can't do shit. you can't vote us out. you either run our software or you create something that's better (good luck with that, your hiring strategy isn't... great).
rationality and the spirit of cooperation prevail.
stay strong dev. we're counting on you.
If you want to make Andy Back really mad, ask him how much money he has lost with his degen trading over the past few years. I did, and now he can't stop tweeting about me. There's probably some signal there
I don't know who needs to hear this, but.....
Trying to peer-pressure or gaslight people into degenerate behaviour such as gambling is a really bad look.
That said.
Have a great day.
Economic nodes is a real thing.
Coinbase checks with their node that a transaction to them has confirmed. If it says no, then they don't credit your account. This is the only time a node matters for consensus.
But Coinbase is just a proxy for their customers. If people want to buy bitcoins and Coinbase gives them some scamcoin instead, it's not going to work out well for Coinbase.
Jesus, Saylor.
Spend some time studying the issue before opining with an opinion that you must think is golden because you birthed it.
Opinions are like assholes.
Everyone has one.
And take it from someone who knows. Spend a little time researching people you quote to see how much THEIR opinion means in this discussion.
Adam Back's opinion and incentives have already been proven for what they are:
worthless.
With all the overwhelming evidence of nepotism and corruption within Core, you didn't learn anything?
If this is all you have to say, then you not only lack conscience but have no soul.
BIP-110 supporters aren't bad people. They're our friends. They're incredibly passionate Bitcoiners that realize Bitcoin is money and hate spam. Unfortunately, their passion for Bitcoin as money and their hatred for spam has clouded their judgement and made them forget what makes Bitcoin beautiful.
Removing rules is a hardfork.
That includes scheduled rules like subsidy halvings, and yes, even BIP110.
Rejecting BIP110 is a contentious hardfork attempt.
And unlike softforks, hardforks need consensus to succeed.
There is no consensus on rejecting BIP110.
Them: Bitcoin is decentralized
Us: Oh? How?
Them: Well, anyone can mine it
Us: Yea, but 5 Miners control 80% of hash
Them: OK, but anyone can run a node
Us: I guess you're right - Bitcoin is decentralized
Them: Yea, but your node doesn't count 🤣
I synced a node fully in 15 hours, and it got me thinking. It’s because I have fast internet and the financial means to afford a node in a box. Not everyone has the speed or the resources to do the same. This is why BIP-110 is so important.
As a high level overview, Pro BIP-110ers are steadfast in their belief and commitment to Bitcoin and are not going to compromise their morals.
Anti BIP-110ers and even the “fence sitters” are the opposite. They have compromised their morals and thus aren’t fit to defend Bitcoin
Whenever someone tells me I should "worry about my reputation," I giggle a little, because it's quite revealing.
Whether they are genuinely concerned or just trying to threaten me doesn't matter.
What they don't understand is that people who are honest to themselves as well as to others don't ever have to, or even can, think about their reputation.
You gain a good reputation by being a good person and standing up for what you believe in. Not by gamifying your words to gain a good reputation.
Bitcoiners all over the world are waking up and understanding what's going on! Nobody in their right mind wants our beloved Bitcoin to turn into Bithereum. Research #BIP110 and run a Knots node that supports it (the latest Knots version 29.3 does that automatically).
@PortlandHODL@start9labs It is very unlikely that miners won't upgrade. They are risking having all of their earnings wiped out by other miners who do upgrade.
@soapminer1@TheSurvivalPodc@bendthekne3 Start9's company node, the one we use to sell servers and pay out employees, is Knots/BIP-110.
StartOS itself is completely and irrevocably neutral by design. We don't and wouldn't want to restrict anything
With just 3842 blocks (~26 days) left until blocks not signaling readiness for BIP-110 start being rejected, support for BIP-110 has never been stronger and shows no signs of slowing down.
