@ldsabuse Perhaps you weren’t ready for the temple but don’t project your experience on others when the vast majority who are properly prepared have a very sacred experience.
@Apologetics941 If you want to interpret the Book of Mormon you might consider asking a Mormon. Hopefully you’ve read the comments and realized your misinterpretation. We use the very same scripture to show that the church of the Lamb of God is not a denomination but a people.
@jacelala@ThoughtfulSaint Sincerely I’m glad you still hold respect for our faith. I also hold Protestants and Catholics in holy envy.
My belief in Christ and the Bible came through a divine experience from the Holy Spirit of God when I first read The Book of Mormon.
https://t.co/huaDS7FCH8 do you explain the Nauvoo Expositor getting key details of what later became D&C 132 substantially right?
2.After the Expositor issue, in the city council setting: Hyrum acknowledged a revelation touching plural marriage, and Joseph acknowledged it dealt with sealing. If both admitted a revelation existed, why not simply show it to the council and end the controversy?
3.Every witness who left a record about the revelation being read on Aug 12, 1843 said it was about plural marriage — including people who rejected it.
•Example: William Marks (later RLDS) still admitted (May 2, 1865) it was read and that others received it though he rejected it; and E. C. Briggs reports Marks saying the same. What motive would RLDS-aligned sources have to concede that?
4.If William Clayton’s journal entries were fabricated later, how do you explain the May 1, 1843 entry that appears to record Lucy Walker being married to Joseph in shorthand (“m L. W. to J. S.”) — on the page immediately before the Kinderhook-plate tracing?
https://t.co/m4RXRmQu3q a Jan 3, 1844 city council meeting, while still in the First Presidency, William Law said there was truth to Joseph/Hyrum promoting a “spiritual wife” system — and the minutes then have Joseph speaking about secrecy (“the man who promises to keep a secret and does not keep it…”). What, specifically, was Joseph referring to if not a confidential system being discussed?
6.Willard Richards recorded the sealing of his sister Rhoda to Joseph in the Prophet’s journal on June 12, 1843. Is that also a later forgery in your view?
7.The Lott family Bible says they gave their daughter Melissa “to wife” on Sept 20, 1843 (no groom named) and shortly after refers to her as Melissa Smith. How do you account for that without special pleading?
8.Zina Huntington’s June 1844 journal note places her at a meeting where her husband (as master mason) spoke — while her legal husband Henry Jacobs was away on mission. How does that fit your model?
9.Ebenezer and Angeline Robinson (who later aligned with Rigdon/Whitmer/RLDS streams) swore an affidavit that Hyrum taught them the doctrine of plural marriage and how to keep it secret. What motive would they have to invent that after leaving the Brighamite church?
10.Finally, if this is fundamentally a Brigham Young “mastermind” fabrication: please list as many specific conspirators as you can who would have needed to coordinate across multiple factions (including non-Brighamite and later RLDS sources) to pull this off — and explain how they kept it coherent without credible defections exposing the scheme.
@MonogamistJoe @WalksJesus67802 Zina Huntington wrote in her journal that she went to a meeting where her husband who she mentioned was a master mason spoke. Her legal husband Jacob was on a mission at the time.
