“We’re mad. We’re very angry... I feel like privatization of education, exploitation of international students, and budget cuts to a faculty that we’re really passionate to be in, is not something that we signed up for.”
Students and faculty are OUTRAGED at the deepening crisis in post-secondary education. At Western—and across Ontario—budget cuts are already hitting hard. Now, proposals to privatize key educational services would make universities even less accessible and affordable 😡
As @PSAC610 President Pardis Baha put it:
➡️ “Ontario is the worst-funded post-secondary sector in Canada. We’d need a 47% increase just to be second-last. The government should be stepping up—not forcing universities to pass the pressure onto students and staff.”
This is what austerity looks like.
And if we don’t fight back, it won’t stop at post-secondary.
K–12 education could be next!!!
We need to stay ready.

New analysis by @CCPA suggests @fordnation's alcohol-everywhere plan could cost the province $510 million a year. Ontarians have the right to know how much this expansion will cost them - especially if it involves huge cuts to our health care & education.

Hey @fordnation my daughter got an $86 bill from Lifelabs for her cervical cancer screening, after having her business closed during the pandemic for 10 months, no income and not qualifying for CERB. Thanks for “getting it done” #VoteFordOut2022
I was contacted by an ODSP employment provider in Ontario who asked me to help get a message out about Ford's privatization of our social services and healthcare, so they could be anonymous. It's important and will be a big thread. These are their words: #onpoli
Stopped to support the @CarpentersONT out on the line today from #osstf Asking for fair wages for services that continued on during the pandemic! #solidarity#onstrike Visit them on Victoria Street in Waterloo
