#gischat I don't know why I'm coming up short on this - how can I make a map with some polygons separated like this? I'm currently trying it in #ArcGISpro but would be happy to execute it in #QGIS or #rspatial. I hope the answer isn't #Inkscape or similar, but I may go there.
Looking for a PhD student with interest in #immersive#visualisation of landscapes, #VR#unity3d / #UnrealEngine and GIS. We support and empower the Traditional Owners of #BudjBim. We would like to especially invite all First Nations applicants! @AgatheLP @imwaustralia please RT
@BranchTwigLeaf I’d get on board for Bayesian spatio-temp or R-INLA reading group. I’ve been meaning to deep dive INLA for the better part of 2 years and it’s just not happening alone
@jessica_cherny Jobs for entry and mid level research analysts + data scientist @ForsMarshGroup. I’ve been with them 6 months have have really enjoyed. B Corp with amazing benefits, full remote option, and salary ranges posted. Happy to give referrals!

@JessAStern@academic_exit My background is in conservation biology + GIS and now I work on federal public health campaigns as a data scientist. It still feels weird/wrong to say I’m in marketing but it’s direction is explicitly societal good for a marketing firm that is a B-Corp.
Introducing a new #Python package named geospatial 🚀Installing commonly used Python package for #geospatial analysis and #dataviz with only one line of code. Let me know your fav package, and I can probably add to it

@Rhiannon_Kirton @DanMcGlinn @MattJGould @Doofgradstudent Ahaha I can confirm you can still found older but reasonable enough homes in Laramie for 250-300k! Not sure what the median value is though.
I get asked this question a lot “Why and how is processing geospatial data different from traditional data?” Here is a rather incomplete list why:

@Doofgradstudent @Rhiannon_Kirton I live in Laramie and work remotely as an industry data scientist. The cost of living is low here (and the Merkle group is great from what I’ve heard/seen) but those qualifications would definitely land higher pay outside of an academic setting.
@MicheleTobias@pokateo_ Fair enough! My dogs are the same way with tennis balls indoors. The novelty factor is huge otherwise they try to climb on my lap and scratch up my office chair..
