@jlr397_rutgers Hi Jeremy,
I think that 3-D printing was intriguing when it first was created and now is not as talked about as other creations. However, I agree with your prediction that it could definitely be used in the medical field due to how rapidly technology is growing.
@aliyar_ru Hi Aliya,
This is an interesting prediction that is more than likely going to eventually occur because of robot like inventions we have today. Robots such as Amazon’s “Alexa”, the Roomba, the robot in grocery stores are all similar to humans and will continue to be perfected.
@MooreKyere Hi Kyere,
This is something I never thought about that makes total sense and I could definitely see being a requirement for cars. Especially a car like Tesla that already seems like an Iphone turned into a car, I could see them requiring facial recognition.
My biggest takeaway from this class is that I realized how disruptive the apps I have downloaded are. This stuck with me because I noticed that after I wrote my EDTP paper, social media is a major part of everything I do. #DCIM353McCormick
I think that businesses and institutions are going to continue to utilize online platforms like Zoom. I could see face to face interactions reducing even more than they already are and jobs will be solely remote. #DCIM353McCormick
@BenemeritoMarc Hi Marc,
This is a great point that you put about Clayton Christensen because it provides insight on disruptive technologies. It will help us study for the exam and also understand companies that operate in this day and age.
@refai_reshma Hi Reshma,
I think all of these are important topics that we will need to know for the exam. I forgot that we should know about how technology affects families so thank you for reminding everyone.
@JoeBrutgers Hi Joe,
I think that the 5 criteria’s of disruptive technology are also something we need to know for the exam. Since it was said multiple times in class it is definitely something to expect for tomorrow.
Something that is important to know for the midterm is the two types of innovations which are sustaining and disruptive. It is also important to know the two types of disruptive innovations which are low-end and new market disruptions. #DCIM353McCormick
@refai_reshma Hi Reshma,
This is by far the most unique and interesting topic I have seen yet and is something I never would have thought about doing. You definitely will find a lot of information on gene editing and I can’t wait to see where you go with this topic.
@TIFFANYMEI9 Hi Tiffany,
Netflix along with other streaming services has changed the way we watch tv shows and movies. I remember when I was little and had to go to Blockbuster to watch a movie, but now all these platforms have made it easier to watch them at any time.
@rylayru Hi Ryan,
I think is a great and unique topic to do your project on because of how many people use Airbnb over hotels now. It really has changed the way people book trips and vacations because of how convenient and sometimes cheap it can be.
The EDTP project topic I will be researching is Instagram because of how much this app has influenced social media. I have had Instagram since I was in 6th grade so I already have a lot of background knowledge about the app and it’s disruptive changes. #DCIM353McCormick
@kgps60 With platforms such as Instagram, Snapchat, TikTok, etc., Facebook definitely is not as popular as it used to be. Other apps have evolved and stayed updated with trends and I feel like Facebook has always been the same app with the same purpose which has caused this decline.
@sophiapannella1 With the use of social media within our generation, buying a newspaper has become something of the past. So many platforms post current events going on in the world that it is almost unnecessary to buy a newspaper anymore when you have almost everything right at your fingertips.
@thesophiaverse Cancel culture is definitely a hot topic when it comes to social media and has damaged many influencers careers. Decisions that these people have made in their past and present can ultimately impact their career and we have seen this first hand with people like Kanye West.
A social norm that has changed the modern digital age is the way people approach getting into relationships due to dating apps. These sites have become a staple in the dating world but there are also many downsides that come with it.
