I did my house job in a secondary centre and one thing my registrar always told us "the unbooked patient in labour, is that patient sent by your village people to come after your license" and till date the warning he gave us is till very loud in my ears, never do a VE for an unbooked patient in labour without a recent scan.

If you don't come with a recent scan at 36 weeks and above, he will refer you to a teaching hospital where they have blood bank and emergency theatre.

I know you're probably playing by the statement below but let me explain to those who don't know how superbugs are made.
Pathogens, mainly bacteria jump from one person to the other through various means - air, aerosols, bodily fluids, faeces etc.
These bacterial have the ability to mutate and become resistant to antibiotics, which is why we often preach that people should complete their drugs so they can eradicate the pathogen completely.
In many cases, when people fail to complete their drugs or use them the way they like, the pathogen mutates and gets resistant to the drug, even though their body may eventually get rid of it and they get well.
However they often pass this organism to other people before they this happens.
Now repeat this process multiple times over several years and thats how you get what we call a superbug (a pathogen resistant to many drugs).
I hope with this explanation of mine, I've been able to convince and not confuse you that a superbug doesn't develop in a single person.
