Huge congratulations to @HughMohan3 on successfully defending his PhD thesis today. A very special day for the group and a very proud supervisor. Many thanks to the examination team and special thanks to @Researchirel for funding.
Had a fantastic week at #Carbon2025 in Saint-Malo 🇫🇷! I had the honour of opening Topic 1 with a keynote on carbon nano-onions for drug delivery
🏆 @HughMohan won Best PhD Oral Presentation
🧪 Aravind presented a great poster on CNO dispersibility
Proud of them! 💪

Traumatic brain injury doesn’t end with the impact, the real threat is the #neuroinflammation that follows.
In our latest paper published in @BrJPharmacol, we explore a novel therapeutic angle: targeting #P2X7 receptor

The Young Investigator Award I received last week in Galway by the Society for Free Radical Research - Europe (@SFRR_Europe) and @ElsevierConnect . It was such a surprise! Thanks a lot! ✨
Delighted to be the recipient of a Research Alliance Award, which will allow us to investigate the feasibility of using our Carbon Nano-onions in laser assisted cancer therapy, in collaboration with Prof Zengbo Wang at Bangor University in Wales.

What do we do in our research group? ⚗️🧪🧬
Our group leader Prof Silvia Giordani tells you about it in this video! 👇🏻
As a member of her team, I enjoyed so much this filming session 🤣 and the result is amazing!
Massive thanks to Daire Hall for the great video highlighting our research (and my wonderful team) at @DCU#WeAreDCU

I enjoyed our @DCU Spring Open Day, giving taste lectures about what our School have to offer, providing laboratory tours and answering questions from interested high school students and parents at the stand together with my colleagues and postgraduate students.
Our recent hire, Dr. Francesco Calzaferri @JfcFran gave an excellent seminar @DCU_LSI this week and sparked a lot of interest. He clearly showed that great things can be achieved combining chemistry 🧪 with biology! 🧫 🧬 Bravo ! 👏 👏 👏
Warm welcome Francesco Calzaferri @JfcFran I am delighted to have you onboard and I wish you continued success in research and a great time with us @DCU
