A2, If you teach OCR or AQA GCSE with Python this year, then I made this resource https://t.co/VqznPDaxPE #caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Thanks for posting. I found myself sucked into the story of data analysis on a pointless question... bliss. https://t.co/FQa5WFrbWF

[Alan O'Donohoe @teknoteacher]

Could you find two houses in the UK with the same address on the same road? Paul Plowman did using freely available data. Great story... https://t.co/8dnkQohIke

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Agreed to something engaging for the first lesson #caschat https://t.co/n06iVYUeJQ

[Alan O'Donohoe @teknoteacher]

#caschat A1 Always straight in with engaging, hands-on, pair programming challenge lessons. No prep, covering books etc for a week or so.

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Hope it works for you! https://t.co/qXqPoB2Mu8

[Mrfeleppa @misterfeleppa]

Thanks @jfranklinedu for the #CASconf17 prize, I'll give it a good home

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

@dannylew1985 sorry for the delay in replying. They cover everything listed in the spec along with dictionaries, random and Tuples.

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

@misterfeleppa nice one. I hope you get to read some of them to your students!

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

If school ones, make sure they don't leave without handing them back with the wire neatly coiled #CASchat https://t.co/GfQVnRHjpo

[kirsty burridge @kirsty_burridge]

Quick question - headphones for pupils? What do you do? Say - bring your own, or class set of big chunky ones? #caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

If CS gets any harder then they'll be the only schools able to cope with it! #CASchat https://t.co/nKQVPiZOAB

[Prof. Miles Berry @mberry]

@ictlinks real costs are time not money. £360m for grammar schools could be repurposed, maybe? #caschat @clcsimon

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Great stuff @MrsMounsey. There are great teachers out there, just not enough of them or enough to train others https://t.co/jZ7DUFgejx

[Mrs Mounsey @MrsMounsey]

@jfranklinedu One of my first students is starting his PGCE in Comp Sci in September #proudTeacher #caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

At least we aren't trying to do that in an environment of budget cuts and the lowest recruitment for PGCE! #caschat https://t.co/LeFbUcV8PI

[Prof. Miles Berry @mberry]

.@clcsimon ... oh, and we're still trying to figure out how to teach it well. #caschat A5

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

A2 Agreed. A computer to a beginner in CS is like a calculator to those beginning maths. A big distraction #CASchat https://t.co/CdHNXVCxfE

[KaySawbridge 🇺🇦💪🏻 @KaySawbridge]

@clcsimon @CompScienceUK and @jfranklinedu both have awesome resources.

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Why restrict it to computing! #caschat https://t.co/sfKvoik9rh

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Totally agree. My best ever lesson was teaching binary by the Socratic method. So many aha moment. #CASchat https://t.co/L1cNJOu2Gu

[Simon Johnson 🙋‍♂️ @clcsimon]

@AlwaysComputing A4. Don't be afraid to try new things, for example, unplug your lessons!
#caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

A4 for GCSE I told them it was the most challenging GCSE but the one that would give the biggest sense of achievement. Most agreed #caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

#caschat a4 for GCSE you don't need to know the answer to everything, they need to figure out solutions in programming for themselves

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

It's like the EOL error... "That tells you there is as error in your program", "cheers sir" (sarcastically) #caschat https://t.co/xE8UiloYao

[Mrs Mounsey @MrsMounsey]

@jfranklinedu The worst is when they add brackets to the end of the program until the red x's disappear 😂

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Totally agree. #CASchat https://t.co/ntwlcv9lCI

[📸 📱Matt 🎮 💾 @AlwaysComputing]

A3. #MakeyMakey work really well for the awe and wonder too. A real attention grabber #CASChat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

A3 I bought keyboards with blue light up keys. They cost £5 but made the raspberry pis far more popular #CASChat https://t.co/DH3lVO2i0H

[📸 📱Matt 🎮 💾 @AlwaysComputing]

Best thing I ever bought was lower case keyboards! Dull but oh so effective!! A3. #CASChat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

A3 lots of success with quadcopter and Python. Anything new can engage #caschat

[James Franklin @jfranklinedu]

Eventually the kids clock that me laughing loudly means they forgot brackets. There is a lot of laughter! #CASchat https://t.co/BjwQQ6OoGm

[Mrs Mounsey @MrsMounsey]

@jfranklinedu I think my favourite line is "check your brackets" #caschat
