Get them on the phone, or if you can, meet in person. Create a passphrase known only to you guys, so they can request it before sharing private information with “you” over the phone.
Bad actors exist and they will start using AI to take advantage of our most vulnerable first.
Just last year my grandmothers best friend was scammed out of $20k when she received a call from her “granddaughter” claiming to be in jail for a petty crime and in need of bail money.
She had just lost her husband of 45 years to cancer the week prior, and the scammers knew that and used it to attack at her most vulnerable. They are fckin ruthless evil terrible people these scammers.
