A political victory for the National Rally, AfD, or Reform UK at the next elections would be a historical catastrophe. They wrap themselves in national flags, yet they take their marching orders directly from Moscow. Real traitors!

It is time to speak with total clarity about what a vote for these parties actually means. Choosing to support these movements is a betrayal of national sovereignty and a direct contribution to the destabilization of the West. Voters who fall for their populist rhetoric are actively enabling foreign subversion. A vote for them is a vote for Putin.

We need a massive mobilization of citizens within these countries to fight back against this creeping threat. Passivity is no longer an option when the enemy is on the ballot. We must aggressively expose their lies, contest their narratives, and protect the values that keep Europe safe and free

Merz suggests Ukraine may have to accept territorial losses to pave the way for EU accession – Reuters.

German Chancellor Friedrich Merz suggested on Monday that Ukraine might have to accept, in a future peace agreement with Russia, that part of its territory would remain outside Kyiv's control. He linked such concessions to Ukraine's chances of joining the European Union.

"At some point, Ukraine will sign a ceasefire agreement; at some point, hopefully, a peace treaty with Russia. Then it could happen that part of Ukrainian territory is no longer Ukrainian," Merz said on Monday.

Merz neglected to mention that this was due to incompetent politicians like himself, because they did not provide sufficient support to Ukraine despite their promises.

BREAKING: Trump STORMS OUT of Supreme Court after his own Justices tear apart his birthright citizenship case. What a loser.

Donald Trump showed up to the Supreme Court on Wednesday to intimidate nine justices into stripping citizenship from 200,000 American-born babies a year. He left humiliated, with his motorcade speeding away down Independence Avenue before the other side had even finished arguing.

Trump made the unprecedented decision to personally attend oral arguments in his birthright citizenship case — the first sitting president in American history to do so. He was escorted in ten minutes early and seated in the front row, presumably to send a message. The message the justices sent back wasn’t exactly what the adamantly anti-immigrant crusader had in mind.

Within 90 minutes, multiple members of the court's own conservative supermajority — justices Trump either appointed or championed — were openly dismantling his administration's arguments.

Chief Justice John Roberts called a key part of the government's position "quirky." Justice Neil Gorsuch and Justice Amy Coney Barrett both signaled serious skepticism. And when Trump's solicitor general, D. John Sauer, tried to argue that modern realities like "birth tourism" justified rewriting 157 years of constitutional interpretation, Roberts delivered the most perfectly devastating response of the entire term: "Well, it's a new world. It's the same Constitution."

Trump didn't wait around to hear more. His motorcade was spotted zipping away from the Supreme Court at 11:25 a.m., while the challengers' lawyer was still being questioned. The man who came to project dominance fled before the other team even got to speak.

Here's what was actually at stake in that courtroom. Trump's executive order — signed on day one of his return to power — would eliminate automatic birthright citizenship for children born in the United States to undocumented immigrants or temporary visa holders.

It has never gone into effect, blocked by courts from the moment it was signed. If ultimately upheld, it would strip citizenship from approximately 200,000 babies born every year. By 2050, according to a new study, it would create 6.4 million U.S.-born children with no legal status — stateless in the only country they have ever known. It would disproportionately affect Hispanic and Asian families. It would even potentially leave abandoned infants with no citizenship anywhere on earth.

All of this to undo the 14th Amendment — ratified in 1868 specifically to guarantee that America would never again create a permanent underclass of people born on its soil with no claim to its protections.

The Constitution has answered this question for 157 years. On Wednesday, even Trump's own justices seemed to know it. While we’ll have to wait for an official ruling to see what the Justices ultimately decide in this particular challenge, Trump’s hasty retreat from the Court proceedings presages what the expected decision will be — and it’s not what the Racist-in-Chief was intimidating the Justices for.

Trump came to the Supreme Court to make history. He made it — just not the kind he was hoping for.

Mir gegenüber im Zug sitzt ein junger Mann, Mitte zwanzig vielleicht, vermutlich Syrer. Er hat einen DIN-A4-großen Block auf den Schoß und schreibt mit einem Kugelschreiber einen Text auf die Linien. Er blickt auf. „Entschuldigung, was ist der Unterschied zwischen schwül und schwul?“, fragt er mich. Ich muss lächeln, erkläre ihm dann den Unterschied. Nun lächelt er auch. „So eine schöne Sprache!“, sagt er. Im weiteren Verlauf erfahre ich, dass er tatsächlich vor ein paar Jahren aus Syrien geflüchtet ist, als Teenager. Sein Deutsch ist nahezu perfekt, und man merkt ihm an, dass er nicht nur um sprachliche Korrektheit, sondern um Eleganz bemüht ist. Solche Menschen machen mir Hoffnung. Menschen, die die sprachliche Klaviatur sorgfältiger und überlegter bespielen als viele andere. „So eine schöne Sprache!“ Wie wahr.

Als US-Präsident Donald Trump davon sprach, der ukrainische Präsident Wolodymyr Selenskyj sei ein „Diktator“, der nicht gewählt wurde, der einen „schrecklichen Job“ gemacht habe und ihm erneut die Schuld an dem Krieg gab, musste ich an die ersten Kriegstage denken.
Am Montag ist es genau drei Jahre her, dass die Ukraine von Russland überfallen wurde, befohlen von Wladimir Putin.
Ich war in Kiew, als russische Soldaten die Stadt umzingeln wollten. Ich habe viele tote Zivilisten gesehen. Ich habe Reporterkollegen morgens gesehen, die abends nicht mehr wiederkamen.
Und immer wieder traf ich Selenskyj.
Das erste Interview, das wir kurz nach Kriegsausbruch führten, fand im Präsidentenpalast statt, neben uns Sandsäcke. „Ich habe keine Angst. Wovor auch?“, sagte er, während russische Killer-Kommandos ihn suchten. Seine Familie und er standen ganz oben auf Putins Todesliste.
Selenskyj ist geblieben, obwohl alle Regierungen ihm geraten hatten, zu fliehen. Er schützte und rettete so sein Land. Er verhinderte so, dass Putin die Ukraine übernehmen und andere europäische Länder ins Visier nehmen kann. Das wird für immer bleiben.
Und das wird ihm auch Donald Trump nicht nehmen können. Die Worte, die Trump gegenüber Selenskyj gewählt hat, sind unfassbar. Trump will Selenskyj die Ehre nehmen.
Alles, was Trump über Selenskyj und die Ukraine sagt und schreibt, entspringt der russischen Propaganda. Im Kreml muss eine Feierlaune herrschen wie seit Jahrzehnten nicht mehr.
Trump hat sich entschieden: Er steht auf der Seite Putins. Unser Feind ist sein Freund.
Erstens zeigen die Reaktionen auf Trump die ganze Verlogenheit der einst stolzen Republikaner und der Unterstützer in Deutschland, dass es kaum Aufregung über die „Diktator“-Aussage gibt und den Skandal-Satz, es gebe in der Ukraine „eine Führung, die einen Krieg zugelassen hat, den es nie hätte geben dürfen.“
Das ist eine unglaubliche Verkehrung der Schuld. Ein Affront für den freien Westen. Eine Bodenlosigkeit gegenüber einem ukrainischen Präsidenten, den Russland töten wollte und der trotzdem im Land geblieben ist. Es gilt: Wer sich Trump nicht entgegenstellt bei seinem Putin-Appeasement, wer weiter so tut, als sei das alles völlig normal, sollte nie wieder über Werte und Moral reden.
Noch viel wichtiger aber: Wir brauchen einen großen europäischen Plan für unsere Sicherheit – und darum auch für die Sicherheit der Ukraine, deren Soldaten dafür sorgen, dass die russische Armee uns nicht näher kommt.
Wir brauchen etwas, von dem wir selbst nie geglaubt hätten, dass wir dazu imstande sind. Wenn nicht alle europäischen Partner mitmachen wollen, dann müssen einzelne Staaten sich zusammenschließen.
Macron macht es gerade vor mit den eilig einberufenen Treffen in Paris. Wir brauchen JETZT Vorbereitungen dafür, wie die Ukraine ohne die USA überleben kann.
Am Sonntag wird in Deutschland gewählt. Danach werden wir keine Zeit für lange Verhandlungen haben. Unsere Regierung muss schnell stehen, um gemeinsam mit Frankreich, Polen, Großbritannien und anderen die Ukraine zu retten und dafür zu sorgen, dass Russland nicht das nächste Land überfällt.
