In Atlanta this week pitching @poppyflowers at @VentureAtlanta 2021. Normally @cameronhardesty would be repping, but her due date is tomorrow (!) so I'm honored to be pitching on her behalf. In honor of that, a quick update on where we are and where we're going ๐งต
@nwilliams030 industry term seems to be "cottage" food sales and like you point out it's not uniformly legal. a lot of the laws tend to specifically go after online selling -- basically letting people sell truly direct to customer but not online through marketplaces
@chrismeadej we do it with zapier querying a data warehouse directly. if you don't have a DW but all your sales are on shopify you can prob still get it to work with the shopify API and a javascript custom code step.
store monthly goals in airtable or google sheets and have zapier pull in.
@WeddingVenueGuy will they let you collect 50% down and take the loan on the other 50%? i would imagine you're still able to fill dates (espec at peak) with the high deposit w/ no interest
@pdrmnvd it's triggered by a different reaction than the bot that gives answers, so it doesn't run on every thread. i've found that it works best if i provide a little message to guide it. reacting to "we should probably add this to our product how-tos" is enough
@pdrmnvd i did a similar thing and added a feature for suggesting updates based on threads. summarizes a thread, finds the related documentation and suggests a tweak to it (suggestion in the form of a linear ticket to make the update)
@KevinEspiritu they were flying banners on mission beach/PB all spring too. prob the only non-alcohol advertisement i saw there. definitely outside the box
@bcardarella zapier:
trigger is new message in public channel
filter for messages containing your trigger
action: send a message that responds (and you can set your icon/name as desired)
zapier can be $$$ but as long as the first step is a filter you only pay for hits
@MatznerJon is the designer involved in closing the sale? (or directly involved in install?) do customers ever worry about either not meeting their designer or installer before the sale?
couple years ago I was at an event in ATL where 1) i knew no one and 2) the people I talked to weren't interested in consumer
Dave helped me ignore the noise, introduced me to people who cared, and we had fun. No wonder he's got a great crew behind him here. team's gonna crush
