In August 1942 he was deported to #Auschwitz and registered in the camp after the selection (no. unknown). He perished in the camp on 22 August 1942.

@chrisbriem No. He needed better economic stewardship of the USA. The Panic of 1857, caused by the first over-expansion of railroads, led to Kelly’s bankruptcy. In order to survive, he sold his patents to Bessemer, who marketed the combined process under the Bessemer name.

@chrisbriem I’ve been saying this for years. Freezing the House at 435 in 1923, when the USA had roughly 1/3 the population it has today, has skewed the House tremendously and helps make gerrymandering easier.
