Thanks Steve for taking the time at #Computex to talk with us about our Zeus GPU and how we’re approaching the rendering, HPC, and (eventually) gaming markets!
@GamersNexus 💛
*We taped out our TSMC 12 nm test chip!!!*
I’m really proud of the @boltgraphics team - we are announcing the successful tapeout of our TSMC 12 nm test chip, which includes key parts of the Zeus GPU we are building!
We are on track to achieve our performance and efficiency targets, as well as our customer target to reduce TCO by up to 17x. We’ve been working with large enterprises, startups, research institutions, individual developers and end users for years now, and they’ve been providing positive feedback on our hardware and software!
We aim to enter mass production in Q4 2027, right in time for the holidays! If you’re not already a part of this amazing journey, sign up on our website to get early access to Zeus or apply for a job!

🚀 A new way of thinking about GPUs takes the SIGGRAPH 2026 mainstage.
Bolt Graphics presents “Building a GPU for the Future of Computer Graphics,” exploring a shift in how we approach path tracing and simulation.
At the center is Zeus, a next-gen architecture designed for real-time path tracing, large-scale simulation, and compute-heavy workloads.

Welcome @boltgraphics to the Blender Foundation’s Development Fund as a Corporate Patron!
This will enable general Blender development, with the goal of continuously improving content creation tools that will benefit the entire community. https://t.co/Tf18irBnrE #b3d#DevFund

Getting a lot of questions about memory bandwidth. The charts below show bandwidth and cache per FP32 core (I.e. cuda core)
2x memory bandwidth per core vs 5090
11x sram cache per core vs 5090
amd is less cache/BW anemic
Zeus scales out well, and keeps data on chip more
Initially we are focused on quality, reliability, performance, and volume. As our volume grows into the millions of units (2027) we will be able to reduce our BOM costs and hit sub-$1000 price points
Bring your ideas to life with Zeus, a new type of GPU:
- Expandable memory: 32/64/128 GB soldered + 2x/4x SO-DIMM slots for up to 384 GB memory!
- Massive improvements to path tracing performance!
- 400 GbE QSFP-DD port!
- Built-in high-performance RISC-V CPU cores capable of running Linux!
- DevKits 2026, Mass Production 2027
And we used the good old 8-pin PCIe power connector that is known to not melt!
I wrote a report on the GPU market, covering rendering, gaming, and HPC industries. Some interesting takeaways:
- 3+ billion active gamers worldwide
- 1+ billion GPUs shipped every year (the majority being smartphones)
- 66% of the discrete GPU market has ASPs over $970
- 25-50% of time and money is spent waiting for GPUs to render or perform simulations. Over $1B/yr is spent waiting for your GPU to finish its work. Faster GPUs save time/money.

Yeah, we’re building GPUs, but we also make art to test our software. This time, @mcurt09 cooked 🎨🧑🍳🖼️
(Yes, this is a render and not a picture) This is part of our Zeus / Greek mythology theme. A lot more to come creative content-wise!
Bolt merch (t-shirts, hats, coffee mugs, beer steins, and more) are now available on our store! Purchase directly from our X store on our profile, or on our website: https://t.co/6FTc17Fqg1
We source high-quality products from USA-based vendors when possible 🇺🇸
We had demo day today and showed off multiple ground breaking features for our hardware and software. We keep encountering things no one has done before, and we just make it happen
Over and over again
We’ll put up videos soon
I think we have room to improve, but we have higher velocity than 90% of startups
Electromagnetic waves! 🌊
We built the fastest electromagnetic simulator to push our defense and electronic warfare capabilities a decade ahead of our adversaries

We are proud to announce our partnership with @Center_Grid, a premier cloud provider with comprehensive offerings around rendering, virtual workstations, and a lot more. Together, we’re bringing real-time path tracing to creatives around the world! 🤝 🚀
📍 We’re joining them at Siggraph next month, stop by booth #511 to learn more!

CenterGrid CEO Chris Beard has been outspoken about the rising costs and limitations of traditional GPU infrastructure, and this partnership marks a decisive step toward a new solution.
“Our clients don’t need another incremental upgrade — they need a clean break,” said Chris Beard, CEO of CenterGrid. “Massive 3D scenes, complex simulations, virtual production workflows — existing hardware simply isn’t built for what today’s creative cloud pipelines demand. Bolt’s Zeus GPU rewrites the rulebook. This partnership gives us a disruptive, future-proof path forward, and we’re proud to be part of what comes next for Virtual Studio Cloud Workstations.”
