If me believing your story profits you then you will have to pardon my skepticism.
Neither participate in weaponized guilt nor succumb to it from others.
@GavinNewsom You prey on people's jealousy, all the while enriching yourself from their hardships. You know full well what the term "net worth" really means yet you purposely behave like you don't.
@JessePeltan They have pretty much maxed out their ability to absorb the intermittency of solar into their grid. Watch for the curve on that chart to flatten.
The trouble with a scientist being an activist is that a scientist will quickly modify their thinking if any new information detracts from their thesis. An activist will be much more likely to discount the new information if it does not match their belief system. Politicians, as you say, have no credibility whatsoever. They only cater to beliefs that they think the majority of voters hold.
@Rep_Whitesides@sciencedems Sugar water is also the cheapest source of calories but, just like overbuilding solar, there are a lot of associated downsides to your system over the longer term if you view that as the best food to eat.
In the US, those with no money who go to the hospital get treated and never pay because they can't. Those with money have to pay their bill. Same result as paying more taxes but at least you have a chance of keeping what you earned. Socialism is built on the idea that it will be someone else's money paying the bills. But it will always be yours.
@CollinRugg People pushing this idea are merely trying to create a narrative to crank up racial strife in this country, and then use that strife to their advantage.
And exactly what interventions are you proposing? Seems like many scientists say there is a problem, but then they let it up to the politicians to come up with a solution. That is far more likely to lead to grift and corruption than anything resembling a better climate.
