@JakeCrain_ If you really want meritocracy to determine who gets in the playoffs, share the money with every team in the division. Then, everyone can afford to compete. It would break the game wide open and give more opportunities for the athlete playing the game.
@joelklatt They should receive an even share of the TV revenue, and their conference champions should qualify for the playoffs. Then they could afford to compete and provide more opportunities for players. But that's not what you are supporting.
