We must get online safety right! Lord Clement Jones and I have written a letter to the Secretary of State regarding our concerns about the implementation of the Online Safety Act, calling for a cross-party committee, from both Houses, to ensure effective implementation.
Just went to some adult websites and looked into the first two age verification platforms I came across;
- The first is incorporated in Seychelles
- The second is incorporated in Cyprus
Neither have a presence on companies house, both have fake UK forwarding addresses only.
This is who you are being asked to entrust with your;
- porn habits (potentially)
- biometric data / selfie
- personal Identification
They promise to delete all data.
OK - how will they be held to account if they don't?
