Gary Lineker did not drag the government to court so he could pay less tax.

HMRC tried to reclassify his freelance work as employment under IR35 and hit him with a £4.9 million bill he did not owe. He took them on, won the case, and proved they got it wrong. That is not tax dodging. That is making the taxman stick to the rules instead of inventing them.

Defending yourself against a false bill is completely different from choosing to support higher taxes. One is your right. The other is putting your money where your mouth is.

You, on the other hand, are busy sneering at millionaires willing to pay more while the Met Police are investigating a £37,500 donation to your own Tory leadership campaign. The Electoral Commission referred it because part of the money allegedly came from a foreign source. You say the claims are false. Fine. The investigation is still running.

So whose side are you really on? Not the ordinary voter in your constituency watching services get cut.

Not the people who actually need the system to work.

You talk tough about tax while your own campaign finances are under scrutiny, and you still found time to abandon the Tories for Reform after failing to lead them.

You lecture others on hypocrisy while the police check your receipts. That takes a special kind of nerve.

The recent and ongoing ugly scenes of migrant families being hounded out of their homes in Glasgow by baying mobs are redolent of what Catholic families endured in the occupied six counties of Ireland in the 1960s and 70s.

Bobby Sands and his family were themselves victims of this kind of pogrom, forced to vacate their home in Rathcoole in 1972.

FIFA’s cameras cut away immediately.
His name is Michel Kuka Mboladinga — known as “Lumumba Vea,” which means “Lumumba Lives.” For more than a decade he has stood motionless at every DR Congo match — suit and tie, arm raised — as a living tribute to Patrice Lumumba, the first Prime Minister of an independent Congo.
Patrice Lumumba gave a stunning Independence Day speech on June 30, 1960 — standing before King Baudouin of Belgium — excoriating Belgian colonialism. Malcolm X called him “the greatest Black man who ever walked the African continent.”
Six months after independence, Belgian officers and soldiers captured Lumumba, tortured him, and executed him by firing squad. His body was dismembered and dissolved in acid. The only known remnant was a gold tooth kept by the Belgian officer responsible for 39 years until his death.
That is what Lumumba Vea stands in tribute to. Every single match. In a suit. Motionless. For 90 minutes.
On Tuesday against Colombia — he added something new. He covered his mouth and mimicked a gun to his head. A silent, devastating protest against the world’s silence over eastern DR Congo — one of the globe’s most severe yet least-covered humanitarian crises, which has displaced millions and claimed countless lives through violence and massacres.
Lumumba Vea went viral this week — covered by USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, Reuters, ESPN, Sports Illustrated, CNN and the BBC. Every outlet explained the Patrice Lumumba connection. Not one mentioned the link between Lumumba’s CIA-backed assassination, the Western strategy to destabilize an independent Congo, and the current humanitarian catastrophe in eastern DRC today.
That connection is not a footnote. It is the entire story.
The same Western powers that assassinated Lumumba in 1961 — because he wanted Congo’s mineral wealth to benefit Congolese people — have spent 65 years ensuring the DRC remains destabilized, its cobalt and coltan flowing to Western technology companies while its people are massacred in the east.
FIFA cut the cameras. The mainstream media covered the gesture without the history. And a man in a red suit stood in the stands and said — without words — what the world refuses to hear.

Iran's Football Teams Leaves a Beautiful and POwerful Message for Mexico as they Depart

You showed us that hosting a FIFA World Cup is about far more than stadiums and tickets. True hosting is about respect, humanity and dignity. We will never forget the kindness of the people of Tijuana. From this day forward, Mexico will always be more than host nation to us; it will be our second home and our second team. We leave this world cup with pride, but also with one fundamental question: "Did everything apply equally to all the teams in the tournament?"

What we experienced was a series of decisions, logistical arrangements, and circumstances that undermined the sense of fairness, an impression only reinforced by the events of the final matchday of our group.

Perhaps one day history will judge who genuinely welcomed Iran's presence at this world cup, and who would have preferred our journey to end much sooner.

For us, Fair Play is not a slogan printed on advertising boards; it is the very identity of football. Yet this tournament reminded us that there is still a significant distance between inspiring words and meaningful actions.

We leave Tijuana believing that football fans around the world witnessed not only the hardship endured by Iranian football, but also the resilience of a nation that refused to trade its dignity, honor, and values despite every challenge.

And we will never forget that those who celebrated Iran's elimination were the same people who had previously celebrated the suffering and loss of innocent Iranian lives. That alone reveals the difference in how humanity is understood.

World cups come to an end. Administrations change, but civilizations such as Iran, Egypt and Mexico, built upon truth, respect, and human dignity, endure through history.

Match results become part of football history. The honor of nations becomes part of human history.

Five Muslim men were chased through Edinburgh with a machete on Friday night.

Two of them were 22 years old.

They were walking through their own city. Sighthill. Then the west. Then Leith Walk.

By the end of the night, five were injured and three were in hospital.

Tonight they are lying in those beds wondering if they will be well enough for work on Monday.

The man who did it was pinned to the ground by police, still screaming.

"I'm protecting the country from these Muslim bastards raping our young daughters."

Ask where a man learns to say that out loud.

He didn't invent it.

Three days earlier, Rupert Lowe published a crowdfunded report claiming 250,000 white girls had been raped by Muslim gangs.

The number was everywhere. GB News. X. The front pages.

Then a man took it into the street on the end of a blade.

He needed one breath to name who he hated.

Watch how long it took everyone else.

The BBC first wrote "Islamophobic attacks." Then changed it to "anti-Muslim." The right word, quietly swapped.

Sky News: "appearing to target Muslims."

LBC kept the word. The only outlet that did. The same station that dropped Sangita Myska in 2024 after she refused to soften.

Then the politicians.

Manchester synagogue, October. John Swinney, same day: "Antisemitism is an evil we must confront." He named the faith. He named the community. That was right.

Edinburgh, his own capital. Swinney: "deeply concerned" by "these incidents." Not Muslim. Not Islamophobia.

The Prime Minister, almost a day late: "appears to be motivated by anti-Muslim hatred."

The Home Secretary, Shabana Mahmood, a Muslim woman, the minister whose department decides what this country calls terrorism. Golders Green: "a vile act of terrorism." Edinburgh: "appears."

Even her.

Still no COBRA. The threat level has not moved. And not one of them will name the attacker's faith.

When the man with the blade is one of us, his religion leads the headline before the ambulance arrives.

When he comes for us, he is a bare-chested man with a weapon.

We have watched this before.

Maysum Abdullah took a knife to the neck shielding his pupils. A hero in every paper. A Muslim in none of them.

Mohammed Algasim, a Saudi student, stabbed to death in the neck in Cambridge. His name barely printed.

And it is not slowing down. In a single week, three mosques were attacked and an imam's home was firebombed. Batley. Blackburn. Bolton. Barely a ripple.

A man knew exactly who he hated and said it in one sentence.

The press could not print it without editing it. The politicians could not say it without softening it. The state would not lift a finger to escalate it.

The whole country saw what it was. Almost no one in power would say the word.

Hands held over their mouths.

Tonight, five Muslim men are in an Edinburgh hospital.

They were victims.

They were Muslim.

They prayed, they fasted, they practised the religion of Islam.

And every word of that was stripped from the page.

If they won’t say it. We will.

At the Scotland v Morocco game at @GilletteStadium Mary and John were in section 303 for wheelchair users.

John’s wheelchair was stowed for the game and unfortunately someone removed it from the storage area insisting he needed it for his father.

We can only presume he thought John's wheelchair belonged to the stadium.

If it was you, can you DM us to let us know where exactly you left it so it can be located and returned to John.
