On behalf of the Government and the Republic of Kenya, I extend my sincere apology to the people of Northern Kenya for the hardships and exclusion you have endured over the years.
Your resilience in the face of these challenges is a testament to the strength and patriotism of this region.
Today, however, we are charting a different course. Our administration is making significant progress in restoring equity, expanding opportunity, and ensuring that Northern Kenya takes its rightful place in our nation's transformation journey.
This is crucial step for Somalia to enforce its laws to protect its maritime domain from criminals who have been involved in illicit activities across Somali coast. The Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy works closely with the Somali navy and coastguard to reduce illegal fishing incidents. We extend our sincere thanks to Turkiye for its commitment and support.
Construction of the new @MFBESomalia HQ is progressing well. @Badmaal_MFBE Coordinator @A_Addow visited the site, met with the engineers, & was briefed on ongoing works. He conveyed guidance from the Ministry’s leadership to ensure quality & timely delivery.
@FAOSomalia@SoDMA_Somalia@MoEWRSo@MoECC_Somalia@MoLFR_SO Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy has been excluded even though it is the legally mandated institution responsible for the management, oversight and regulation of freshwater fishery resources
Alhamdulillah, I have successfully completed the MCS course, enhancing my capacity in monitoring, control and surveillance, especially in tackling IUU fishing at the Ministry of Fisheries and Blue Economy of Somalia. Thanks to FAO e-Learning

The illegal aggression of PM Netanyahu in recognising a part of Somalia’s Northern region is against international law. Meddling with Somalia’s internal affairs is contrary to established legal & diplomatic rules. Somalia & its people are one: inseparable by division from a far.
International law requires Israel to comply and respect the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Somalia. Recognizing a part of Somalia is a complete breach of this. Somaliland is an integral part of Somalia. Our people are firmly united in the defence of their sovereignty.
Exciting step forward for Somalia's fisheries & Blue Economy! 🇸🇴
We have signed pivotal investment deal with OYAK, Turkish Pension Fund to:
—Combatting illegal, unreported & unregulated (IUU) fishing
—Fixing critical port & cold-chain infrastructure gaps
—Increasing sustainable fish exports to global markets
—Creating thousands of new jobs for Somali youth
Climate-driven sand encroachment along the Mudug coast is disrupting fisheries and coastal livelihoods. In Dhinowda, sand-blocked roads are causing food shortages. Urgent climate adaptation is needed, including mangrove restoration and climate-resilient coastal protection.
A milestone for Somalia’s #bluetransformation!
We have launched the Development of a new Fisheries Information Management System (FIMS) —ushering in a new era of accurate data, transparent reporting, & evidence-based fisheries management.
