Model Youth Gram Sabha: Loktantra Ki Pathshala

The Model Youth Gram Sabha (MYGS) equips students with hands-on experience in grassroots democracy, simulating real gram sabha processes to build leadership and civic engagement. It strengthens youth understanding of the Panchayati Raj System and promotes transparency, inclusion, and accountability in local governance

The initiative aligns closely with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by nurturing constitutional values, social responsibility, and civic consciousness among students, preparing them for active citizenship. Structured facilitation through trained educators and standardized modules ensures high-quality implementation and measurable learning outcomes

The programme fosters youth participation in governance while developing essential life skills such as communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and consensus-building and decision-making for democratic engagement

Model Youth Gram Sabha: Loktantra Ki Pathshala

The Model Youth Gram Sabha (#MYGS) serves as a Loktantra Ki Pathshala – a school of democracy – providing students with hands-on experience of grassroots governance. It strengthens their understanding of the Panchayati Raj System, fostering leadership, civic engagement, and accountability.

Aligned with the National Education Policy (#NEP) 2020, the initiative nurtures constitutional values, social responsibility, and active citizenship through structured facilitation and standardized learning modules. It builds essential life skills – communication, critical thinking, teamwork, and consensus-building – preparing youth to participate meaningfully in India’s democratic process.

श्री सुशील कुमार लोहानी, अपर सचिव, पंचायती राज मंत्रालय, ने कहा, ग्राम सभा पंचायती राज व्यवस्था की नींव और प्रजातंत्र का सबसे शुद्ध रूप है, जहां जनता और प्रतिनिधि आमने-सामने बैठकर समस्याओं का समाधान करते हैं।

उन्होंने भारत की सबसे बड़ी युवा आबादी को हमारी सबसे बड़ी ताकत बताया, लेकिन साथ ही युवाओं की आकांक्षाओं और स्थानीय शासन में उनकी भागीदारी के बीच के अंतर को स्वीकार किया।

इस अंतर को मिटाने के लिए, और राष्ट्रीय शिक्षा नीति की भावना को ध्यान में रखते हुए, पंचायती राज मंत्रालय ने शिक्षा और जनजातीय कार्य मंत्रालय के सहयोग से 'मॉडल युवा ग्राम सभा' की पहल शुरू की है। इसका उद्देश्य छात्रों को नागरिक जिम्मेदारी, नेतृत्व और भागीदारी की भावना से जोड़ना है।

पंचायती राज मंत्रालय द्वारा मॉडल युवा ग्राम सभा का प्रारंभ 30 अक्टूबर 2025 को डॉ. अंबेडकर अंतर्राष्ट्रीय केंद्र, नई दिल्ली में सुबह 11:00 बजे से दोपहर 1:00 बजे तक किया जाएगा।
