JRD Tata loses a pen!
JRD Tata, then Chairman of the Tata group, and senior Tata Directors used to meet for lunch at Bombay House (the Tata Group's headquarters) every day. One day, JRD came to lunch, sad that he had lost his favourite pen. He used to always carry a Parker pen set - a fountain pen and a ball pen.
"Look", he said sadly, "I have lost the ball pen. I don't know where it has gone. I have looked all over...but it's gone."
One of the Directors in the lunch room that day was Dr. Jamshed (JJ) Irani of Tata Steel. He made note of JRD Tata's loss. A few weeks later, when he was visiting London, he went to a small shop near Selfridges specialising in pens, and found a ball pen identical to the one JRD had lost. He bought it immediately. The next time he met JRD Tata, he presented that pen to him.
JRD was delighted. "Yes, Jamshed, it is exactly like the one I lost." For the first one or two minutes, he used it and tried it out. Then, Dr. Irani saw JRD's expression change slowly.
After a couple of minutes, he gave the ball pen back to Dr. Irani, and said - "Thank you for the thought. This is exactly what I wanted, but I cannot accept it."
"Why?" asked Dr. Irani, "I thought you were looking for this."
JRD answered - "Yes, Jamshed. But it is a principle of mine not to accept any gifts from any of my colleagues at work. If I did, then I know my colleagues would try to outdo each other and give me exorbitant gifts."
Dr. Irani tried to persuade him. "But Sir, nobody would know that I have given you this pen. You can say that you found it in your room. I am not going to go around saying that I have given JRD an identical pen."
JRD responded - "Jamshed, I know you will not do any such thing. But I would know. I would know that I accepted this gift against my principles. I am sorry, but I cannot accept it."
Each of us decides the principles by which we lead our lives. The principles that we will stand by, even if no one is looking or speaking about them. The principles that define who we really are. This story of JRD Tata's lost ball pen can help us reflect on what our own life's principles are. #Tata #ethics

SpaceX IPO, listing, and beyond, is a true test for capitalism. The valuation does not fit any traditional matrix and is a huge bet on the future course of planet earth. Only time will tell whether we, the human race, have arrived into the fairy tale world we grew up in as children, or are in a mega bubble. Either ways, kudos to the man who came as an immigrant, and to the country that has allowed such boundless creativity to flourish despite all the risks it embeds.
A Laptop is a Basic Necessity for Most Children today. They use good laptops for design, coding, animation & AI as well. For eg: My 11 year old uses advanced features to build curriculum & movies as well. They are getting prepared for the future 😀
When a tax payer buys a Laptop for ₹100000, the person pays additionally around ₹18000 as GST 😭😭😭
A Smartphone is also used by most Adults today. The GST is again 18%. It has become a Basic Necessity.
I feel that laptops & smartphones should come under the 5% GST category.
Hope this will be considered @GST_Council@nsitharaman ji 🙏
Request my audience to share Widely if this makes sense & should be considered.

Story of Investor in India:
- Pays 20 - 30% tax on income
- Invests a part of the POST-TAX income in Mutual Funds / Stocks
- Pays Securities Transaction Tax while Buying & Selling
- Pays 12.5% to 20% Capital Gains Tax on Profits while Selling
- Pays Tax on Dividends (which is a small part of Initial Post Tax Investment)
The base for everything above is ALREADY TAXED INCOME WHICH IS INVESTED.
So dear FM Madam @nsitharaman ji. Logically speaking:
- STT should be refunded back if there is a loss (since you take it on both buy and sell irrespective of profit or loss)
- Since capital gains are taken on profits, investors should be compensated for loss.
- Dividends come on the post-tax invested capital, so logically, why are they taxed again?
I hope in the next budget, you consider these points.
Incentivize investing !!! Make Investors part of the growth story. It will go a long way.
Power of Retail is super strong !!! Tap it. You won't Regret.

One in 68 Indian men will get lung cancer.
One in 29 Indian women will get breast cancer.
And 1 in 9 Indians will develop cancer in their lifetime.
Today, India already has 13.8 lakh new cancer cases every year
(6.7 lakh men, 7.1 lakh women).
This isn’t just a health problem.
It’s a national risk hiding in plain sight.
India is not the first country to kill stock market by introducing so many taxes..
Sweden (1980s) is the clearest case.
Govt introduced a financial transaction tax believing “speculation will pay” and traders had no exit. Reality:
• Equity volumes fell ~60%
• Bond trading collapsed ~90%
• Trading migrated to London
• Tax revenue <5% of estimates
Govt fully repealed the tax. Textbook failure.
France introduced FTT post-2008 using the “make finance pay its fair share” narrative.
Damage wasn’t dramatic, but structural:
• Liquidity fell
• Bid–ask spreads widened
• Foreign & HFT players exited
➡️ Paris slowly lost competitiveness to other EU markets. Tax stayed (politically hard to remove), but growth suffered.
🇮🇹 Italy copied France out of revenue desperation.
Problem: Italy already had a thin market.
• Volumes dropped 20–30%
• Retail participation collapsed
• Volatility increased
➡️ Govt quietly reduced scope & froze hikes.
🇹🇼 Taiwan taxed trades to cool retail speculation.
Backfire:
• Retail capital exited entirely
• Money moved to real estate & overseas markets
• Volatility worsened due to lower depth
➡️ Govt rolled back hikes and added long-term incentives.
🇯🇵 Japan didn’t “kill” its market with taxes, but taxes + deflation killed equity culture.
• Households preferred cash for decades
• Nikkei stagnated
➡️ Revival needed tax-free NISA accounts + governance reforms. Took 20+ years.
India parallel (uncomfortable truth):
• Retail-heavy like Taiwan
• Thin institutional depth like Italy
• High sentiment dependence
• Taxes stacked: STT + LTCG + dividend tax
• Introduced after bull-market addiction
This mix doesn’t show damage in bull markets.
It shows up brutally in long bear markets.
History is clear.....nirmala Sitharaman chose to ignore it..
Ignorance is bliss for bjp

Dear Jio Team,
As a customer, I have two Important Suggestions:
- Most Indians have Wifi access. Senior Citizens use Wifi mostly. Please provide an affordable 1 GB per day plan with options to choose (28 days onwards). Also a yearly plan.
- Provide affordable Voice only plans for less than ₹100 every month. Anything above this is forcing people to take data, even if they don't need it.
There are many who use only voice and also less than 1 GB per day. Need inclusive plans. Let users decide.
Urging my audience to repost this (if you also feel this way) until @JioCare ACTUALLY Cares 👍

Dear FM Madam @nsitharaman ji,
Budget is Coming.
GST has two slabs - 5% & 18%
Please consider for equity & mutual funds:
STCG - 15% upto 1 year
LTCG - 10% upto 2 years
LTCG - 0% for more than 2 years (To reward Long Term Investors)
Abolish STT to avoid double taxation.
On Behalf of Investors,
