Completed the @murphchallenge with some help from my Basement Wall of Motivation. Take a few minutes on this Memorial Day to visit https://t.co/2QAx63fvME and consider donating to a great cause. #ChallengeAccepted
The focus on ~100,000 deaths of Americans misses 4 key points:
1. The real number is ~130,000, using excess mortality data
2. Most were preventable
3. Each life lost = ~11 years of life lost 👇
4. Many survivors are walking wounded https://t.co/zsUmIQGUmA @voxdotcom@LoisParshley
Too much landscaping to do this weekend so I got an early jump on the @MurphChallenge, my yearly tradition to honor those that have died in service. Hope everyone has a happy, safe, and healthy Memorial Day Weekend. #takethechallenge#murphchallenge#challengeaccepted
What you need in every situation according to Marcus Aurelius
1. Objective judgment.
2. Unselfish action
3. Willing acceptance of external events.
That’s it. No more. No less.
Why is GRIEF the name of the feeling we are experiencing? See how COVID plays out in the stages of grief:
Denial: I'm young, my kids are young; it'll just feel like a cold.
Bargaining: If I don/doff perfectly, and perform an elaborate home-going decon ritual, my family is safe.
“The emergency department is like an island slowly sinking into the sea, the overwhelmed waypoint between the world and the hospital, but connected to neither.”

“We can learn from the experiences of our colleagues across the planet,” @Atul_Gawande writes, of Singapore’s and Hong Kong’s success in containing the spread of the coronavirus. “The pandemic is global; its lessons are, too.” https://t.co/JGf9rstu78
As physicians, we proudly serve and uphold our oaths, but the sacrifices we make should not include undue risk to ourselves and our families. PPE is short in supply, but allowing exposure without proper PPE in the line of duty is unconscionable. Save the safety net! @AOAforDOs
Thanks to @SenBillCassidy, @SenBurr, @SenCapito, and @SenJohnBarrasso for standing up for ER docs and stopping @FrankPallone and @SenAlexander from sneaking their bad Surprise Medical Bill language into the next Covid-19 supplemental funding bill. Shame on Pallone & Alexander!!!
I hope that everyone that has been beating down Emergency Medicine doctors for the past few years realizes that WE are the ones on the frontlines, facing #COVIDー19 head-on. We are the ones that can’t / won’t work remotely. 24/7/365 @TexACEP#Here4You @ACEPNow
