سر، اگر ہماری مرضی پر حکومتی پالیسی بن رہی ہوتی تو آج ریاست پاکستان 300 ارب روپے سے زائد کے ٹیکس نقصان میں نہ ہوتی۔ صرف سگریٹ سیکٹر میں پاکستان آج 600 ارب روپوں سے زائد ٹیکس اکٹھا کر رہا ہوتا۔ پی ٹی سی تو اپنے ہر برانڈ پر ٹریک اینڈ ٹریس سٹیمپ لگاتا ہے اور پچھلے برس تقریبا پونے تین سو ارب روپے ٹیکس ادا کیا۔

یہ بہت عجیب بات کی آپ نے کہ لوکل برانڈز چھوٹے ہیں تو ان پر اسی لاگت سے ٹیکس لاگو نہ کیا جائے جبکہ وہ عین اسی مارکیٹ میں پی ٹی سی کے برانڈز کے ساتھ رکھے غیرقانونی طور پر فروخت ہو رہے ہوتے ہیں۔ اگر کم ٹیکس کی آپ کی دلیل کو تسلیم کر لیا جائے تو اسی حساب سے باقی انڈسٹریل سیکٹرز میں نقصان ہزاروں ارب روپے اور بڑھتا چلا جائے گا کہ چھوٹے برانڈز پر ٹیکس کی شرح کم لاگو کی جائے۔

آپ سابقہ بیوروکریٹ ہیں۔ پاکستان ٹوبیکو بورڈ میں بھی رہے ہیں۔ آپ سے بہتر کون جان سکتا ہے کہ پاکستان کو سگریٹ کی غیرقانونی تجارت اور اسی سیکٹر میں ٹیکس چوری سے کتنا نقصان ہو رہا ہے۔ ہمیں یقین ہے کہ آپ اس بات کو نہ صرف سمجھتے ہیں، بلکہ اپنے حلقہ احباب میں بھی اس بات کا تذکرہ کریں گے کہ: "جناب، آپ بھلے چھوٹے برانڈز ہیں، مگر ٹیکس چوری کرنے والا تو چور ہوتا ہے، کاروباری نہیں ہوتا۔" آپ اپنے احباب کو کہہ سکتے ہیں کہ وہ کاروباری مسابقت میں بےجگری سے مگر برمبنی انصاف مقابلہ کریں۔ چور بازاری اور ٹیکس چوری نہ کریں۔ کیونکہ چوربازاری اور ٹیکس چوری کرنے والا بالآخر اک چور ہی ہوتا ہے، بھلے اس کا نام و مرتبہ جتنا بھی بڑا ہو جائے۔

Oh, and btw, those militants India claims to have hit in Pakistan? Let's take that Indian claim at face value. For the argument's sake, let's assume that everyone killed in Pakistan in the initial Indian attack was a militant (we know for a fact that isn't true).

Let me assure you that the jihadists must have already made up for that by recruiting 10 times more than that number in a week. The Indian attack itself will be used as an argument for recruitment.

So, losing multiple jets, getting your bases attacked deep inside India, putting your pilots at risk of being captured by Pakistan, that all is supposed to be worth it because you took out a dozen or two jihadists and struck some empty structures? And while you are still fighting it out with Pakistan, something else goes down in Nagrota and you have to cover it up because what other choice do you have?

Yeah, India will be thinking a hundred times before trying to pull off something like this in the future, without at least significantly improving its capabilities first.

The Indian govt knows what exactly is the new normal. It's just that they have no face to explain it to their gullible people.

Indian Army recovers likely Rafale fighter jet wreckage in Aklia village near Goniana Mandi, Bathinda.
