Congrats to Mohammed A. Shalaby for his successful PhD defence! His PhD was on the use of ultra-wideband (UWB) radio for robot navigation, and was supervised by Prof. James Forbes and Prof. Jerome Le Ny.
Last month, @Juste1Cano successfully defended his PhD thesis on RF localization optimization for multi-robot systems. He is receiving a PhD degree both from @polymtl and @ISAE_officiel , and joining @onera_en for his next adventure. Congratulations Justin !
@ramkrishnap@florian_dorfler @IEEECDC2023 The official instructions are to find 4 confirmed reviewers per paper in one week (in case one drops later). And not send many review invitations for each paper, whatever that means.
@florian_dorfler@AndreaGarulli for sure it does not make sense to send you 12 papers to review. But still AEs are optimizing locally given their constraints, and I think to address the fundamental issues we should look elsewhere.
@AndreaGarulli@florian_dorfler The difference with journals is that we work with tighter deadlines, so we cannot wait for reviewers to take 2 weeks to decide. Then more invitations are sent, and you end up with a mess. Deadlines are not coming from AEs.
@AndreaGarulli@florian_dorfler I see it's AE bashing time on Twitter 😀 Given the constraints, I'd just say that the most efficient way right now to improve the process is to promptly reply to the invitations, even if the answer is negative, no matter the reason (too many reviews, off topic, CoI, etc.).
Congratulations to Anthea Comellini, who visited our lab for a few months at the end of her PhD on space rendezvous, for being selected as a member of the ESA astronaut reserve. First alumna of the lab to get her own wikipedia page! https://t.co/nbCs3Qu3JC
Congratulations to my former doctoral student, Nikolay Atanasov @UCSDJacobs (co-advised by @KostasPenn) for receiving one of the @ieeeras Early Career Awards in Robotics and Automation! @GRASPlab@PennEngineers https://t.co/wxA2l8AJA8
