Sana 6 month data show transplanted pancreatic islets making insulin with no immunosuppression. Promise of one treatment, no more insulin, no immunosuppression, normal blood sugars, functional cure for the broad population. Vertex is a nice proof of concept for Sana, but with lifetime immunosuppression.
Our research is expanding beyond pregnancy. Excited to share our results by @Hilmill1113 (https://t.co/VpTCnITP35) investigating transplantation tolerance; and grateful to @J_Immunol, @ImmunologyAAI for streamlined review and support
In my 40 years of biotech, I was waiting to see this result. Never before have transplanted cells survived normal immune response without immunosuppression. Excited for patients, many whom I know see hope today for a possible cure for many diseases. https://t.co/ijzuyabvDV
JCI - Complement-producing maternal microchimeric cells override infection susceptibility in complement-deficient murine offspring https://t.co/KBwDRNTUsE another example for what microchimeric cells can do, in this case offset disease severity associated with missing proteins
My sister’s been diagnosed with a rare sarcoma, motivating this search for look-a-like cases if you know anyone please let @wgibson know, his lab at Dana-Farber looks and feels like the best startups in the silicon valley they will change the future of cancer
More groundbreaking work by colleagues at Sana showing the potential for the hypoimmune platform in type 1 diabetes. Amazing to think what this could mean for patients in this disease and beyond.

@HelenBranswell@brittanytrang Agreed. I think another company that could solve this issue is @mammothbiosci through CRISPR-based at home tests. Cheap to manufacturer and would be highly accurate. Have to get cost to consumer down for mass adoption.
