Powering Progress: Clean global electfication is the key to addressing climate/environmental security, economic security, national security, and human progress. https://t.co/2jEtofSsL4
@colinoflynn@gsuberland I wonder if there is a way to put a baby copper block on it with a heat pipe to a radiator with a fan on it.
Does doing things at higher power matter?
@colinoflynn@gsuberland When you are doing this how do you keep it cool? Or is the power draw so small that pointing a fan at the die will do the trick?
Solar Power Is Bailing Texas Out This Summer
“We’ve got twice the solar we had last summer, and something like 3x what we had eighteen months ago"

@duncancampbell EVs will add a lot of night load, heating will also add load at night, but probably be “flatter” than EVs, I don’t expect industry to change much.
The daytime peaks will grow, but not nearly as fast as night time. I’m fact that is the only place we can “afford” EVs on the system
@duncancampbell@ramez@isabelleboemeke The load is a huge challenge there, even with the smallest turbines there isn’t enough load to operate them at a profit.
At todays diesel prices that may have changed though.
@isabelleboemeke@duncancampbell Onshore, Newfoundland, but getting it to market is a challenge.
There is also a very large hydro resource that can be (re-)developed too.
@dabb52285 The split and formation of #ercot.
The split is of particular interest, and I think the process started in ‘35 and completed in ‘40. I haven’t looked it up yet.
Each coal power station requires 3,800,000 tonnes of coal per year & emits 7,500,000 tonnes of CO2.
If they last 25 years, they require 95,000,000 tonnes of coal & emit 186,000,000 tonnes of CO2.
They're not environmentally friendly.
(Unlike Sophie I'll give workings)
Want a plain language explainer of how and who figures out our electricity system in Nova Scotia? If you’ve been reading the news on the topic I’m sure you do. Check out this from @EcologyAction and click on the Guide https://t.co/xMA3uGgzLj
@galmquist1@ERCOT_ISO@PUCTX LOL, ok. Two very different phenomenon but yeah, I live in a place that gets warmer and colder and we have a much higher wind penetration and don’t have these issues.
I’m looking do out some #energytwitter recommendations, especially if they talk allot about #smartgrid, #microgrid or #evs and distribution systems https://t.co/mcVgJccZ34
Faculty are 25 times more likely to have a parent with a PhD.
I just remembered that when I was a kid, our window AC unit leaked onto our carpet and a giant mushroom appeared overnight.
If you're 1st gen and you also had a mushroom in your living room I see you.
@galmquist1@ERCOT_ISO@PUCTX Ummmm, ok.
What are your qualifications to make that assessment? I have a pretty extensive CV, or are you the type that think experts = idiot?
