American semiconductor giant Nvidia allegedly provided extensive technical assistance to Chinese AI firm DeepSeek, according to the U.S. House Select Committee on China.

This support reportedly enabled DeepSeek to significantly improve the training efficiency of its advanced AI models—such as DeepSeek-V3—through optimized co-design of algorithms, frameworks, and hardware, allowing frontier-level performance with far fewer GPU hours than typical U.S. models.

According to the letter, these enhanced AI models were subsequently utilized by China's military (the People's Liberation Army).

The claims stem from documents the committee obtained from Nvidia, raising fresh U.S. national security concerns about American technology indirectly bolstering Chinese military AI capabilities despite existing export restrictions on advanced chips like the H800.
