A central problem in the interpretation of the scientific literature is that people (both in and outside of science) systematically fail to recognize that peer review is not, and has never been, about validating facts. It is about certifying conformity of approach.
I feel that an under-discussed aspect of the reproducibility crisis in research is just dependency management. Reusing my own code in a new virtual environment after just *one* year is a non-trivial task because entire libraries have changed drastically or are deprecated by then.
