HAWKS REQUEST PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING A WANTED PERSON

The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) is appealing to members of the public for assistance in locating Buntu Ndevu (40), who is wanted in connection with the enforcement of a court order and an outstanding warrant of arrest.

On 31 August 2021, Ndevu was convicted on six counts of fraud by the KuGompo Regional Court. He was sentenced to five years’ imprisonment, wholly suspended on condition that he did not commit any further offence involving fraud during the period of suspension.

In addition, the court ordered him to repay identified victims a total of R610 000.

Ndevu failed to comply with the conditions of his suspended sentence, including repaying the victims.

As a result, a warrant for his arrest was issued on 29 April 2022.

He was subsequently traced and arrested in Cape Town during 2024.

After appearing in court, he indicated his intention to comply with the original sentencing conditions. However, he again failed to comply with the court’s order, resulting in a further warrant of arrest being issued on 31 March 2025.

The DPCI urges anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Buntu Ndevu to come forward and assist law enforcement authorities.

All information received will be treated with the strictest confidentiality.

Members of the public with relevant information are requested to contact Colonel Raymond Buys on 082 301 1135.

The cooperation of the public remains vital in ensuring that justice is served and that individuals who fail to comply with lawful court orders are held accountable.
