I'm building a free app for developers (me).
It's really just an app to make my life easier. I can run projects without opening an IDE or terminal. And a bunch of other helpful utilities. #buildinpublic#webdev

I continue to dog food Barnacles using it everyday. I'm loving the stats. I shipped 9 days in a row on 4 projects this month already. #BuildInPublic#webdev#indiehackers
The latest release of Barnacles shows you the files being hidden by default in the file explorer and lets you right click to hide more folders. I wanted the focus to be on your files and not third-party bloat. #buildinpublic#webdev
Yesterday a new Barnacle started growing. Today, I have a chat interface where I can talk to the llm and have it create images from Google Gemini. Built using Nuxt and Laravel. Surprisingly easy to do agentic ai in PHP right now.
Last week I updated the website for Barnacles with more screenshots and feature explanations. Before it had just been one screenshot and a download button.

Link below β
1. zero values are a little less visible
2. On the current week view, a small indicator is shown below the current day to show you that it's today
3. Some stats like "streak" doesn't need to show the values because it's just a boolean so it doesn't
to name a few
I added labels with animations to these git stats charts inspired by the @syntaxfm episode where they look at the Lando text hover effect that uses transition delays. Do you like it?

It's relatively simple but a lot of considerations went into this...
@BreezySei@FlorinPop17@marclou I think he's likely using Rybbit under the hood and it's open source. Rybbit has the globe feature and you can see it on github https://t.co/E27w1WwTjU
I added some git stats to the top of the dashboard in Barnacles. It pulls data from any project that you've committed to on your local machine. I really wanted to shy away from stat "cards" and I kind of did.

I can never remember my local dev logins for all my projects so I added an option to save them in Barnacles.
What's your strategy for remembering your dev credentials?
#buildinpublic#webdev
One of the tricks I picked up from working at Google is a very simple way to make sure your interface feels on-brand:
Start with the core brand colour.
Let's say it's blue.
You create a palette of blue shades from light to dark, almost white to almost black, all with a blue tint.
The text isn't just pure white.
It's a very light blue.
The background isn't pure black.
It's a very dark blue.
Using these throughout the core elements will create an almost unnoticeable but present brand 'feeling' through the interface.
It works especially well for trading interfaces where the positive/negative colors can easily dominate, making it hard to incorporate your brand without it being jarring.
This technique works perfectly for any product and industry.
I finally added a download button to the Barnacles landing page. It's been available to download from the github releases page the whole time but this is makes it a lot easier.

I added a new readme to Barnacles, it's a little more end user focused with screenshots and features. I moved the developer guide to a new file. #buildinpublic#webdev
