The most terrifying detail about Noah's Ark isn't the size of the flood. It is the design of the boat.

If you look closely at the blueprints God gave Noah in Genesis 6, He was extremely specific.

He gave the exact length, width, and height. He specified the type of wood and the pitch to seal it.

In my little years, I have never thought of this, but God intentionally left out one crucial component. There was no steering wheel, no sail, and worse still, there was no engine.

Think about how scary that is.

Noah was building a massive vessel to survive a global storm, but he had zero control over it, or over where it went. He couldn't steer it away from rocks. He couldn't turn it into the waves. He couldn't aim for dry land. He was completely at the mercy of the water.

The Ark was not designed for navigation; just for floating.

Noah’s job was to be the Passenger, not the Captain.

God was the Captain.

Just hearing of the heartbreaking news and from families close to those that have lost their children in the #TexasFlood

People are asking me -“what do I do?” “What can I say to my children who lost friends…what do I say to the parents who are my friends?”
Being present with those mourning and mourning with them is the right thing. Do not feel pressure to say anything- weep with them. Pray for them. Serve them. MAINTAIN your faith in the steadfast GOODNESS of God.
Do not try and give answers to things we don’t know (Dt 29:29) and remember what we do know - specifically that when this tragedy at #CampMystic happened - the Father was exactly where He was when His Son died on the cross - firmly planted in the heavens on His throne -waiting to bring His perfection and hope to our broken world. Don’t forget His goodness when nothing around you suggests He is good and sovereign. Hold fast. Comfort others with the comfort with which you have been comforted. Be steadfast. Present. Silent but ready to comfort with Truth of God’s sufficiency and love.
Be strong and unwavering.
Hurt with them.
Wait with them for the Lord’s peace to come.
Pray.
Practice the ministry of presence and faith.
Grieve- but not without hope.

I am praying now for all who are close to this tragedy and the myriads around the world who are similarly hurting and we don’t even know about their story.
