A collapsed nose gear is an ugly thing, but look closely at what happens when you design an airplane with an intense level of forethought for such a failure. The weight sits entirely on the 787’s nose — not the engines — and the MLG doors still open freely.
THIS GUY LIVES UNDER SFO'S TAKEOFF PATH SO HE BUILT A CEILING PROJECTOR THAT TRACKS EVERY PLANE FLYING OVER HIS HOUSE IN REAL TIME
he uses a cheap $30 radio receiver to pick up the signals that planes broadcast while flying.
then projects them onto his ceiling in real time
when a jet flies over his house you hear it outside and at the exact same moment a plane glides across his ceiling labeled with the airline, aircraft type, and destination
pure black background so the projector's rectangle disappears and only the aircraft are visible
but he didn't stop at planes
it also draws the real sky behind them. sun, moon, bright stars, constellations, and live satellites including the ISS. all at their true positions for his exact location and time in real time
so he's lying in bed watching the actual night sky projected onto his ceiling with real planes crossing through it as they take off from SFO
there is a huge market for every man alive that runs outside to see the helicopter
vibe coded the whole thing himself with a cheap radio, a projector, and some clever software
"Your dad is the only man on earth that wants to see you surpass him." This is certainly true for me as a dad, and I'm really proud of my son, Evan Kern.
- I majored in electrical engineering as an undergrad, and now my own son is much better than I've ever been at circuit design and coding (he's fluent in C, C++, Python, and R).
- I earned a minor in mathematics, and now my own son is much better at advanced calculus and working with data structures than I ever was.
- I've developed advanced flight control and sensor systems as a test pilot, and now my own son is capable of designing and building those same systems from the ground up.
- I've always prioritized hard work, attention to detail, follow through, and integrity; now my son shows those same leadership strengths.
If your team is hiring for work with control systems, embedded microprocessors, radar, or electronic warfare... I know a man you should be recruiting RIGHT AWAY. Besides being smart, competent, and well-spoken, he's talented, trustworthy, and people really like being around him.
Whether or not your team is hiring, would you please repost this?
@PIC_Colleen This is one of the differences between BGA and ATR. In the ATR world with the quantity and regularity of flights, the planes need ways to fly when not perfect. CDLs and MELs are large, complete documents in the ATR world covering lots of items that can be missing or damaged.
Thank you again for this meaningful recognition. I look forward to applying my experience and the training I’ll receive to become a CAM to make a positive impact in aviation and to supporting others in the same way I’ve been supported.
I’m truly honored to have been selected as a recipient of the Jake Cartwright Leadership Scholarship toward my journey as a Certified Aviation Manager (CAM). I want to express my sincere gratitude to the @NBAA for their generous support and investment in aviation professionals.
