Late post. We presented the new @Royal_College Indigenous health curriculum at @ICREConf in Oct. I’m excited to see this piloted and evaluated and keep moving Indigenous health education forward! https://t.co/IhccdUd2dE

@OviniThomas @OMSAofficial@QuEST_Program@Megan__Park Excellent and important work! 🎉Remember if not appropriate for suboxone (or other OAT) we should still be treating withdrawal with opioids too! Pts often come to hospital & lose their tolerance because we don’t provide opioids and then are at high risk of overdose at discharge.
ODB has added generic #methadone to the formulary. Thanks to a team of people with lived experience and health care providers, we have created communication guides for people on methadone as well as HCPs. https://t.co/FaICbBrvfu
pls share widely.
@JenniferWyman4 Thanks! Such important points. And I think important to remember that folks with OUD and pain may require higher doses of opioids to manage their pain, not lower as is often prescribed!
@stephanieyzhou@LisaBromleyMD@javedalloo @drpselby @OntarioCollege Great conversation today! Important to note there are no known biological or genetic factors that predispose Indigenous populations to substance use. This is the legacy of colonization, inter generational trauma and racism. Reconnection with culture and tradition is treatment!
This month I’m joining an @OntarioCollege panel on approaches to opioids in #primarycare. What questions, topics, myths, practices would you be interested in hearing about?! #addictionmedicine

On this #WorldAidsDay2021 I’ve decided to share, unabashedly, my truth as an HIV(+) physician.
I’ve centred my career around sexual health and HIV care, but I’ve never met another out/open poz doc.
I figure it’s time to live loudly; the world is ready❣️
HIV infections rose by 31% from 2013 to 2018, we need all levels of government to prioritorize HIV funding and a community based approach that had been lowering cases prior to 2013

As a gay doctor and proud Trekkie/Broadway fan, you can imagine my reaction when I realized I was working out next to the iconic (and beautiful) @wcruz73 today. He gets to live out all my childhood dreams on screen and now we go to the same gym apparently. 😳😍 #youokayhoney?
Using thousands of beads, an Anishinaabe artist has woven a massive sculpture to represent the strength and resiliency of children who seek care at a Toronto hospital. https://t.co/sGYn4BnEjX
