🚨🔴⚪️ ARSENAL HAD ALREADY DECIDED ON A DIFFERENT TRANSFER STRATEGY.

Arsenal had decided from the outset that they would not sign a large number of players or spend heavily during this summer’s transfer window.

Andrea Berta knew that significant player sales were required, with improving Arsenal’s record in selling players being a key part of his remit.

The club’s financial position was also a major factor. Arsenal needed to increase revenue through player sales and remain compliant with financial regulations after last summer’s significant spending.

But that raises a very big question:

Why spend so much time pursuing the likes of Vinícius Jr. and Julián Álvarez? 🤔

Why approach their camps? Why explore the deals? Why give fans the impression that Arsenal were preparing for major attacking reinforcements if the club already knew that those kinds of deals weren’t part of the actual plan?

You can understand financial discipline.

What is harder to understand is spending weeks creating expectations around transfers that Arsenal apparently never intended to complete. 😭
