@MathewPiling@DungeonNoir I played this game a TON when it was new, and for years thereafter. It's got a steep learning curve in some respects, but it's worth putting the time in if you enjoy running a kingdom along with your dungeon delving. I do suggest reading up a little on Birthright first, though.
@WorldLimitRPG@Gingerblast Downtime is a large part of AD&D 1st edition. Healing to full HP without the use of magic takes days (or up to 4 weeks in some cases); training to level up can take just as long, and not all PCs necessarily level at the same time. Then there is magic item or castle creation...
@gggirl924 As with any true narcissist, if there is something that people are talking about that does not involve them, they will always try to insinuate themselves into that situation and make it all about them instead. It does not matter if the discourse is good or bad.
@Nobleshield Whenever I design new monsters with new abilities, I almost always run myself through several encounters with them to see how things might go. As long as nothing crazy comes of this, I know things will be just fine. Usually. ๐
@FullSpectCrazy@Gingerblast Ability score checks were not in the core rules for AD&D 1st or 2nd editions. No mention of ability score checks are made at all in the 1e PHB or DMG, and in 2e they're presented as alternative saving throw methods. Plenty of adventures and DM house rules used them, however.
@nona_gee37775@RonFilipkowski LA County alone would be the 20th largest economy in the world if it were an independent nation. I guarantee it wouldn't be anywhere near there if Republicans had been in charge all this time.
@FuturDe25867 If the internet as we know it today had existed in the late 70, early 80s, I have little doubt that Gary would have gone the same route as Matt Mercer. Just look into Gary's time in LA for evidence.
@ARRGETSTUFFED@angijones Oh, I completely get the desire to do so from your perspective. I still hold doors open for women and similar things. But I also understand the other side of things a little better now.
@ARRGETSTUFFED@angijones My friend's then fiancรฉe, who is almost 6 inches taller than he is, once asked him in front of all of his friends if he needed help getting something from the top shelf. He was completely embarrassed. In that moment, I realized why some women might not appreciate "chivalry".
@d20play The box for mine fell apart LONG ago (same with the boxes for B/X and BECMI D&D), but I still have all of the contents (except for the original dice... those disintegrated as well).
@YoDanno Don't forget the University Club toast "Genius of the res-to-ration, aid our own re-sus-ci-tation" if you have a drink with another club member. ๐
