So really the bottom about 90% are not broad shouldered under this change.

@DAaronovitch Very unfair, when a party has as many as 4 or 5 MPs (I can’t keep up with the defections / expulsions) there’s bound to be at least one or two whose racist views you need to keep quiet for electoral purposes.

@DPJHodges More than “possible” I’d say extremely likely given the work Starmer has done on getting close with Trump. It’s dirty work that wins few friends (your newspaper will never give him credit for it) but it is of value.

But that’s a very different statement to saying this week’s horrific racist attack was the result of the foreign policy of the UK government, which is claimed up this thread. Best wishes anyway.

@yoda234 @jusfr123 @Daniel_Sugarman It would be easy if that were true but it’s not, the issue predates the “current political climate” and will almost certainly post-date it too, around the world, saying it’s somehow unique to an action of the current government doesn’t hold up and minimizes the issue.

@DPJHodges So let’s ban the marches this weekend, agreed. What about next weekend? I am not aligned with the marches (for similar reasons to you) but are we seriously saying we want that entire subject to be off limits for protest by government decree?

@ClaireCoutinho @DPJHodges The correct position is that both things are wrong, but, like the people you’re (rightly) criticising, your party only appears to believe one of them is wrong, you only disagree on which one. Can you not see that?
