🚨Open Call Alert!
Our Open Call for INTELLIGENCE has been extended until 15 March!
Science Gallery Bengaluru is looking for interactive, participatory, and experimental works for INTELLIGENCE, our upcoming exhibition-season for 2027-2028.
INTELLIGENCE is an invitation to think beyond singular, human-centered, or claims around machine intelligence. We invite reflection, provocation, and curiosity to reimagine intelligence—whether it be biological, artificial, creative, collective, or poetic.
For the exhibition-season, we are looking to work with individuals or groups, preferably from across career and disciplinary backgrounds, critically exploring intelligence in its diverse forms, through research and art in the contemporary and historical contexts. We seek applications that are artistic or scientific inquiries, or both.

Flow experiments and streamline analysis systematically explore the hydrodynamic spin-coupling of rotors, identifying the conditions in which either corotating or counterrotating modes emerge #CoolVideo

Post-doc/PhD on Learning in Biological and Soft Matter @TU_Munich. Uncover how flows transport and process information to solve complex tasks, working with Physarum or synthetic flow networks. #PhDposition#academicjobs https://t.co/BqLuqG5KAm
Take a break from the tyranny of familiarity! Experiments reveal that magnets, normally expected to snap onto ferromagnetic surfaces instantly, cannot overcome hydrodynamic forces to achieve finite-time contact in viscous fluids. Now out in @JFluidMech

Happy to share our last paper 👉 https://t.co/cmwPEm8x1m where we show how beads can turn flexible fiber networks into load-bearing structures. Fun to build, tricky to crack—these metamaterials keep you on your toes! (literally) @LaurenDreier@Trev_J_Jones
In our new paper in PRL, we explore how soft glassy materials "remember" past deformation (i.e., residual stress), and how to measure and predict it.

If you are in Bangalore or surrounding area on 6th Sept - it would be fantastic to see you. We are starting a broader conversation on scaling up https://t.co/JZyDjXNNB6 - if you want to teach these principles in your classroom - pls reach out here.. @TeamFoldscope
📣 Looking for a creative postdoc with strong computational skills!
Be our go-to person for building simple but powerful simulations that test wild ideas on biological rhythms: from daily cycles of mussel groups at deep sea, to firefly flash synchronization! More info👇
This week’s guest on “The Joy of Why” is my friend L. Mahadevan. The Maha that I knew a long time ago was thinking about paper folds. These days, he’s moved on to brain folds. Tune in to our conversation, from @prx and @quantamagazine: https://t.co/7iOAhZGQoR
We found that the dimensionless time to open up the body for maximizing splash is within 1.1-1.5. Simply, if a 5’7” person jumps from 1 m height in water in a 45° V-shape, they need to open up their body within 0.26-0.3 sec. Timing decreases as the jumping height increases (9/n)
Excited to share the outcome of my postdoc at Cornell supported by @SchmidtFellows. We uncovered how plants use hydraulic processes to send rapid stress signals.

🎉 Excited to share our work on Chloroplast Morphodynamics, now in @PNASNews! 🪴 We uncover a unique light-induced dynamic in non-motile cells. 🌟

When a coating on a surface is allowed to flow as it cures, an interplay of order and disorder driven by the Rayleigh-Taylor instability results in structures similar to some found in natural deposition processes

These tiny bots feature flexible legs and a vibrating internal motor that drives their insectile motion. The bots lack any type of computer control. When paired using a flexible tether, look what they do! Learn more at: https://t.co/e7QiIRVbEj
Plant cells undergo incomplete division and remain connected. This image illustrates two daughter cells linked by strands of endoplasmic reticulum spanning plasmodesmata—tiny bridges for intercellular communication.
New findings in Science reveal that the endoplasmic reticulum holds these bridges open during cell division; without it, plasmodesmata close, addressing a long-standing question about how to combine cell division and communication. https://t.co/N38POIt9tk
(11/n) In the data - we discovered a universal mechanism that the living matter produces mucus parachute tail - akin to a tail of a comet. This is so significant that you can take a mass that was sinking and literally this parachute tail will bring it to a stall!
MyPTV, our open source 3D particle tracking code has a new release, with numerous updates and new and improved algorithms. Many months of work have paid off 😀
