I have decided to leave X as of March 14th. You can now find me on Bluesky—I hope you'll choose to join the platform and follow and connect with me there @johnmighton.bsky.social, as well as on LinkedIn!
Child care experts from across Canada gathered in Toronto for #YChildCareChampions Shining Brighter conference. @StuartShanker and @susanhopkins5 spoke on self-regulation, while @johnmighton highlighted early math for equity. The event shared key child development strategies.
It was a pleasure to speak at the @EdWriters conference in Fort Worth, TX! Thoroughly enjoyed connecting with some new faces across the border on the science of learning math.
Thanks to all who came along!
I did some volunteering with @JUMP_Math and @johnmighton 20+ years ago. Saw first-hand how amazing it was. Kids went from barely passing to As. Now that I'm a parent I teach my own kids the same way.
@johnmighton My son started Jump Math this past school year in grade three and when I saw the workbooks, I was duly impressed.
As a CFO who uses mathematics, statistics, and modeling every day, I could show him the practical uses of the exercises.
Best of all, he throughly enjoyed it!
@johnmighton I have been trained in jump math and have been using jump math at my school for years and have seen several new math texts books gathering dust, I feel vindicated and can say my grade 5students love my jump math lessons and have thrived in their math understanding .
Thanks John
I’m excited to share this article about JUMP Math by Caroline Alphonso at The Globe and Mail.
Try our short quiz at the end of it to test your Grade 6 math skills!

Got an idea for improving education? Prove that it works, like @johnmighton and his team have done with Jump Math.
Notice the lack of "I got influential people excited about this" hype and the abundance of ACTUAL EVIDENCE.

A remarkable milestone for @FieldsInstitute — 2024 marks a century of revolutionizing research in mathematical sciences across Canada. It’s an honour to be a Lifetime Fellow & to have benefited from Fields' tremendous support for @JUMP_Math.

Can't wait to tune into this episode. I am yet to read/listen to a discussion by @nsachdeva2019 that is any less than both fascinating and inspiring. Know this will follow suit alongside @rastokke .
Exciting new podcast episode! My guests are Nidhi Sachdeva and Jim Hewitt. Discussed: their co-designed science of learning class at OISE & equitable education - strategies for closing the achievement gap. Don’t miss it! @nsachdeva2019@JimHewittOISE

Continuing the discussion on teaching math using 'real-world problems' vs starting simple and building mastery, Joanne Lee Jacobs recently wrote an article in reference to my talk with Holly Korbey in The Bell Ringer. Read more about it here: https://t.co/iRWiQqYgzn
In a recent interview in the latest issue of Working Together, by @wpgfdn, we addressed critical math learning needs throughout Manitoba.
It was a pleasure to discuss how @JUMP_Math is closing these gaps in classrooms across the province (pg. 24-25):

This is a great article about JUMP Math, which is a charity that offers K-8 math instructional resources. It was created by mathematician and my good friend John Mighton @johnmighton. Glad to see that more schools are adopting JUMP Math! https://t.co/iVvwFwCAxk
